The easy answer will be either the Callaway Big Bertha irons or the TaylorMade r7 CGB irons. Drivers--that all depends on your preference, but most of the 460cc models should be fine.

However without practice and only playing once every other week, you might want to look at changing up the tee time for some quality driving range time (unless you absolutely hate practice). I know that when I got busy (similar schedule to yours) my rounds got less and less enjoyable. Or take a sabbatical from the game, you'll enjoy it all the more when you come back. We'll leave the light on for ya. :golfer:

No doubt, I know for me when I play a round where some or all parts of my game go down the drain (which happens quite often as I'm around a 12 handicapper), it is definitely frustrating and not worth the money paid to play the round. If you can, get to the range and try not to let your game slip too too much...

When you have more time to devote to the game again you will thoroughly enjoy it a lot more IMO!

But as for your question about equipment, my Ignite 460 was definitely one of the easier drivers I've ever hit and I found it to be quite forgiving.

I agree with all the GI iron suggestions so far. My handicap is similar to yours and I've tried quite a few forgiving cavity backs and the three that were very user friendly for me are Mizuno MX-17's, Callaway Big Bertha 2004's and Cobra 3100's, if you want to play forged the Mizuno MX-23's are almost as forgiving as the previous three. As far as drivers, all of the 460 cc versions of the Cleveland Launcher are easy to hit well. Good luck.

I get out once a week and I would rather play than practice which is why I took the game up in the first place. What I did was get some lessons and put them to use while I played. I did play the same (badly) for a few rounds but, now the lessons are sinking in and I'm playing much better. Playing is a lot more fun than standing on a practice mat :golfer:. I suggest the Callaway Big Bertha 04/06 or Srixon I-403AD irons. The Nike Ignite or Sasquatch, Callaway X or Innovex CfD driver should work well for you. All these clubs are very easy to hit but, demo all the clubs you can. (cool)

Here's my idea. Given you don't play much, there's really no need to buy all new stuff, here's some suggestions.

Cobra 3100 irons................$450 (new)

G2 driver............................$200 (eBay slightly used)

V-Steel fairway...................$125/fw (new)

Cleveland 588 wedges.........$100/wedge (new)

Used Titleist Futura putter.....$125 (used at Golfsmith)

I'm in a similar situation as far as no time to practice and only play every so often, I'm also a 14 handicap. I've lately found I'm better off forgetting about the driver, although I have not hit any of the 460's. If you have a good 3 wood, and hybrids to replace(or fill) the 2i-4i clubs not only will you be in the fairway but you shouldn't have any trouble reaching long par fours.

I definitely agree with the Callaway recommendation for irons.

Good luck

Pete

I agree with beruo as well, if you want a bag of clubs you can pick up and go play without worry of " how's my swing today"? Go with a Callaway set up, they are making a very player friendly golf club these days in every type of club, they rate in the top of all catagories.

ALL the OEM's are making great clubs these days, and you could demo your brains out trying to pick a driver , 3 wood, hybrid etc., again if you want something to just go and play, not much better than the current Callaway line up.
