Greed I agree however I don't want to pay high - full wkend price only to be stuck behind a group of teenage hotshot with delaying my game, I suppose I would use the same argument about "old" duffers however they generally drive a cart. I get very angry leaving work early during the week only to run into the golf team on the course, they even drop the golfer off in a shotgun mode thus slowing my play all around. I also see the youth lose focus if they are having a bad round and start goofing off. Hey you pay to play on weekends!!

When my dad was the golfchairman at the (private) club. Juniors, even non-members/dependents, got to play for free, even on weekends. They had to tee off at odd times though as not to get in the way of members. This was pre-TW so golf wasn't the same sport then. When he quit to become a Rotary DG they strangely took take policy off.

everyone pays more friday,sat,sun...not just juniors. They take up the course just like anyone else..so why offer a discount ? It wouldn't make sense financially when most cant even rent carts which brings the course even more $$$.

Woods : Callaway Razr TA, Titleist F3-05
Hybrid : Adams LSP XTD
Irons : Fourteen TC910 3&4I, Nike VRProCombo 5-PW

I actually had a good experience on friday. Me and some of my golf teammates went down to the course we'll be playing at for conference, and it only cost us $8/person for as many holes as we wanted to play. He did say that it was more expensive on the weekends but still much less expensive than most places.

there are many reasons why courses do not offer jr/sr rates on the weekends... a few being that the weekends are pretty much the only time where your average adult has time to play golf, so why would you give a jr (who has summers off) or a sr (who has every day off) a discounted rate on the weekends when you are already giving them discounted rates during the week??? what we do at my course is after 4pm on sundays one child is free with one full-paying adult... that way your kid plays free and at 4pm you're not going to bother anyone or tie up the golf course which is the main problem with juniors and/or younger kids who do not understand the game or are just starting out. IMO juniors have no place playing golf before 12pm ANY day of the week...

My son is 13 and I play with him on weekends, mostly early. He's a 14 hdcp and he's been taught to keep up and observe all proper golf etiquette. I've never had anybody complain about his play, actually people have been very supportive. We're lucky, our course has junior rates even on weekends. Except for the summer, juniors don't really have a lot of time during the week to play, with other sports and homework. What's annoying sometimes is when you see juniors who don't behave properly on the golf course. They are the future of golf and they should be encouraged to play, but maybe it's not a bad idea that they should pass a rules/etiquette test before they're allowed to play on their own. I know a lot of adults that need this test.
