Def re-shaft the G2!!!!

from what i hear the G5 is exceptional. i would say i have heard from at least 7 people i can think of by name that play it and wouldnt give it up for anything. i know one person that LOVES his G2 and won't switch. I think the differences are subtle but to me the aesthetics are much improved over the G2. I have hit 3 range balls with the G5 and i liked the look of it a lot, but that was not enough of a sample to give you a strong opinion. as a 983 junkie i'm not the best person to get driver advice from.... but i can tell you what people told me... this is not just buzz i'm speaking of.. real golfers who actually play a lot.

my advice: reshaft the G2 AND buy the G5... indulge yourself.

I have the same dilemma! I don't like the shaft they sold me in the G2 so I'm switching it out to a Proforce V2 which I demo'd, and like. If it doesn't feel right, then I'll go to the G5... taking little baby steps first, then we'll see. Hope this helps.

i read a review in a top Golf Magazine that said the G5 was very good, but, there is no point in G2 owners upgrading because there is VERY LITTLE difference between the two regarding performance.

i have the Comp NT shaft in the new Launcher 460 btw. if i was you i would re-shaft the G2 with one.

I've switched from the G2 to G5 and could not tell you the difference. Web site states that they moved 8 grams from the crown to the sole & face for a lower center of gravity. If you want to hit the ball slightly higher get the G5 otherwise I would spend my money on a shaft upgrade.

I was in the same boat but finally made the change to the G5. They are both great clubs. The G5 is a very solid club and IMO feels a little better than the G2. I'm getting a little less spin with the G5 head also. Both clubs are very long. I really don't think you can go wrong with either.

I think i am going to go the reshaft route with the G2. To get the G5 i would need to sell the launcher comp. I like the head just not the shaft thats in it right now. By reshafting the G2 i can keep the comp and try a few new shafts in that as well down the road.

Well, I changed my mind again. The comp is on ebay for sale. 10.5 degree, slightly open face, fuji tour platform 26.3 stiff, 45.25". Username mfetterman on ebay if anyone is interested. I am going to order myself a G5 with grafalloy comp nt 65. The G2 was the best driver i ever owned until I decided to try to gain some more accuracy and shorten the shaft, and all of a sudden loose quite a bit of distance and gained no more accuracy. Hopefully the G5 will work out. I am also planning on keeping the G2 as means to test other shafts and have a backup when i feel the need for the change.

you could just get a sweet shaft on a G5, noo thats not an option but umm, id go with the g5 because i noticed how quickly ping released it so it must be better in more than one way, but also, everyone knows that if you can get the perfect head/shaft combo for you, there is nothing better! good luck

I put the proforce V2 in my 10* G2 and it is incredible it works very well with my swing and every one who has tried it really likes it. Just all around good.

I have hit both clubs with the same shaft in them and I noticed no difference. The club is almost identical only that the G5 has the spider web crown. I did notice that the G5 I did hit a little higher but other then that the feel, launch, and control was all the same. I decided to keep my G2 and I might put a V2 in it a little down the road but as far as switching, IMHO it would be pointless. The only things I could see making the change worth while is that you like the cosmetic changes which are the smaller cresent moon on the top and the small grooves on the face. Hope which ever decision you make you are very happy with!
