I agree with you, jimfante. But its a tough call on picking one over the other (I use both). The ProV1 just feels great off every club, and so does the B330RX. I find that there are many times when I appreciate the little bit of run on approach shots I get with the B330RX vs. the ProV1 (which almost always stops dead in its tracks). For firm greens I'd go with the ProV1; for softer greens, the B330RX. JMO.

Never switch balls before a tournament. Besides, most people on all the Trackman fittings I've seen with swing speeds in your territory got little to no more distance with the 330-RX than they got with the ProV. Meanwhile, for greenside spin there's absolutely no comparison. The 330-RX performs a helluva lot more like an NXT than a ProV.

Srixon Z Star...better feel and better performance than both of the balls listed.

If you have to go with either/or...330 RX and it ain't close. Pro V1 just isn't the best performer anymore, unless they are paying you to play it.

all bridgestone balls do not suck as one poster said. and i dont think any of them feel like a rock.i think the rx is the softest premium ball available. The e6+ is very low compression so it shouldnt feel hard but u wont go wrong with a pro v or a rx.

prov1 spin more, softer off the putter

rx spin slightly less but i presume with higher launch you get more distance and rollout

For tournaments, the greens should be nice
And you'll have more pressure getting up and down since its a tourney

go with the ball you feel best around the greens with and most importantly, will make putts with

Everybody relax, I’m here

I've played both... If I were you, I'd go Pro V1. I hit it a good distance and it spins well. Another reason to bag the Pro V1 because its better around the greens. You make the money there. It stops very easily.

BTW, Good Luck!!!

I used to play all pro V's around the greens and for my pitching and chipping practice....until i bought some RX's and 330S...WOW i was blown away...all i can say is next season im playing all Bridgestone! :good:

Not to mention i really have to hand it to Bridgestone for getting out there and fitting people trying to get their ball on the market...its working and im really happy i gave the 330 line up and try!

Played my first round today with my brand new Scratch wedges. Started out with the B330-RX, really no difference off the tee or mid-irons. What I noticed on several shots from 100 yards and in was that the ball would check, but not stop. It would trickle out another 10-15 feet (our greens are very firm and pretty quick).

What sealed the deal was a little flop shot I had that was around 18 yards. I picked the ball perfectly and expected a one-hop and stop. The RX kept on rolling about 8 feet past the hole.

I changed to a Pro-V1 on the next hole and had a similar shot with the 60*. Ball hit, bounced forward about 5 feet and spun back about a foot for a kick in birdie.

When it comes to greenside spin, there is no contest. Pro-V1 wins hands down... It isn't even close as far as I am concerned.
I'm in my late 50s with driver swing speed down to 85-90 mph. I'm trying to decide which to play in an upcoming tournament. My opinion is that the B330RX spins less, goes farther, but doesn't hold the greens as well as the Pro-V1. Does anybody else have this opinion? Whaddya think?
Both are great balls but I play the Rx because it's cheaper. All premium balls spin well for me - no noticeable difference between brands.

If you have the time before your tournament, buy a sleeve of both and see for yourself. ALL balls act somewhat differently from player to player. i.e., A lot of people like the RX for distance. For me, I LOST 10 yards in distance with the RX, so that ball is not right for me. And I have an average swing speed.

 • 2 months later...

I picked up a 330RX and played it a few weeks back - great ball in my opinion. I typically play the V1x for years. My SS is circa 105 with the driver now, so I am in their target SS. Really believe I picked up significant distance off the driver (10-20) and about 5 yds with mid irons. I did not find a significant difference in greenside use, but I only had one round.

All in all, I will be trying the RX come next spring. I think it may put shorter irons in my hands, and that's a good thing.

Just found a brand new Bridgestone b330 rx the other day. Its a decent ball, I don't think that it is any straighter than the Pro v1. I think that its a very hard ball compared to even an old used Prov1x. Of course my analysis is very different from other players. I play on one of the worst golf courses in the southern part of the United States, with heavy rain, and very old greens.

First of all, there is NO WAY anyone is getting an extra 20 yards switching from one premium ball to another. The big name companies best offerings are all fairly even when it comes to distance (other than the Nike One Platinum which was found to be at least 10 yards shorter in robotic testing)

Feel wise, in my experiance the cover has more correlation to how soft a ball feels than the compression, especially when putting. So, the e6 may have very low compression but has a fairly hard cover.

The ProV1 has higher compression but a softer cover than the RX. I agree with the person that said it plays more like a softer NXT Tour. I personally see no reason to pay a premium for this ball that has nothing special about it.

I have backed ProV1s 5-10 feet uphill and off the front of greens. I had never before backed up a ball more than 6 inches. (I have Ping G10 irons.) A Bridgestone fitting recommended the 300RX. I got a sleeve for Christmas and will try them soon.

I like the ProV1s, but to see your ball mark a foot short of the hole and the ball is off the front of the green is frustrating.

I like the couple of ProV1xs I've found and hit, but haven't hit them enough to really compare them to the V1.

I am a 7-handicapped player with slow SS and have been playing with ProV1 for the last 3-4 years until a friend gave me a Bridgestone RX ball to try: I gained about 10 yards of distance overall (from driver to iron shots). However, IMHO, the ProV1 provides better feel around the green as it checks up a little better than the RX. For me, it's a GREAT trade off, hitting 1 or 2 clubs less (than normal) on approach shots into the green = more birdie chances. And on top of that, since most of my chip/pitch shots around the green are short of the hole when i was playing with the ProV1, after the switch to the RX, they are now closer to the hole on the average resulting more PAR saves. I have no doubt that the RX is a BETTER BALL FOR ME, for my playing style and skill level. I am so looking forward to 2010 golf season with a lower handicap... :clapping::rolleyes:

RX balls: about 10 YDS longer over all, spin a little less than ProV1 on the green, more durable on the cover, just as or more expensive than ProV1. Just my $0.02

BTW, BUZZKILL or anyone in this forum, where do you buy new RX balls that are cheaper than new ProV1 balls, please post it here or send me a PM. The RX balls is MORE EXPENSIVE any where in the mid-west USA proshops including Golf Galaxy, Golfsmith, TGW....

Try Amazon.com. I also saw them here in Arizona at a Dicks in Gilbert for 27.99

The B330RX is a very nice ball, but not a premium ball IMO. For the price, it doesn't have the green side spin that it should have for the premium price. If it was priced at $28 per dozen the price point would be appropriate.
