Taylor Made R5 defects?

Anyone else cracked the face?

I noticed this weekend that my R5tp had a very noticable crack about an inch long at the top portion of the "sweet spot." I'm a little surprised because I take great care of my clubs, and I'm not exactly the hardest swinger (105-110mph) in the world....I figured the 120mph guys were the ones that cracked faces. Now I have to hope my club pro can get Taylor to replace the head with another or better yet, a R7 425 head......Anyone else have this happen? If so, were you helped out at all?

yes, happened tome with an R7 long time ago.....

needless to say, TM took great care of me and they sent me a brand new club...shaft and all.

Just call TM, its under warranty.

The same thing happened to a friend of mine. He called Taylor Made and they told him that any club that was manufactured within the last two years will still be under warranty. He had bought the head on ebay and put in a graffaloy prototype nt shaft. He got back a brand new head with the grafalloy installed for no charge.

I had a friend who had one crack on him the first round he played with it. He had a little trouble getting Taylor Made to warranty the club, they told him to go through the local rep, and he told my friend that since it had an aftermarket shaft installed they wouldn't warranty it. He called TM back and complained and they said that they would warranty it this one time, but not if it happened again. On top of this, he had to pay a local shop to pull the shaft and reinstall it when the new head came.
