Refinishing a 905R, who does it?

Do I send it back to Titleist?

I think I got a good deal on a 8.5* 905R with a Diamana Blueboard X-Stiff shaft, but it has a pretty deep scratch on the top near the hosel (this was disclosed to me before purchasing). The scratch is obviously not from a tee shot, probably gouged by a wedge or something. The guy I bought it from said he is a pga staff player and had this club (one of the first 905R's) reshafted at the Titleist tour van at Bay Hill. I don't know if this would pose a problem for Titleist since I think all clubs are supposed to be sent back to them for reshafting. If Titleist would refinish the club, how much should it cost? Will they have to remove the shaft to do this?
Also, what is this club worth with this shaft, (and accounting for the scratch)?

yes, its a good shaft driver combo. i heard that there is a touch-up paint that you can get that is the same color as titleists drivers, not sure where to find it though, maybe someone else can chime in.

Try on ebay and type in golf paint, can't remember the exact name of the company but you should get a number of colors including the 905.

Thanks guys, I was able to reach someone at the Titleist Repair Department. She said they do not repaint or refinish the 905's because of the hosel and the heat they have to use to cure the paint. So it looks like my only option is this "touch-up" paint. I tried some of this stuff a few years ago on a Taylor Made 320 driver, and it did not come out well. I used the brush first, but I didn't like the results and used a model air brush. It did not look right either. Oh well, hopefully I still got a good deal. Any ideas on the worth of the club?

Refinishing is work Titleist generally doesn't do. If they did, think about all the requests they would get....the numbers would get outrageous. So I'm not surprised at the response you got from them even if there is an issue with the hosel and the heat needed to cure the paint.

As a last resort I would consult the guys at 'Carolina Custom Golf' and see what they have to say about possibly doing the work.

Thanks, I have checked all of the links everyone posted. The scratch doesn't bother ME too much, so I don't think I will do anything at this time. If the club doesn't knock the 905R w/V2 out of the bag I sell it.

So, that brings up another question: If you were going to buy this club, would you want the previous owner to TRY to touch-it-up (or send it to an after-market guy for refinishing) OR would you want to buy it as-is and do you own thing? How would either of these scenarios effect the purchase price?
