What's the worst weather or conditions you've played in?

Rain, Snow, Wind
I live in Iowa and we have Spring golf. Our spring is inconsistent weather wise. One day it will be 80 degrees and the next day it will be snowing. So far this year, I've played in the pouring rain, a light snowfall, and heavy wind gusts. Whats the worst weather you guys have played in?

Rain blowing into us at an angle. It was during one of my teams tournaments. There's something about playing in bad weather or playing when you're injured that is hard to explain, it is kind of intense and I guess you feel driven to play and adrenaline just takes over. Reminds me of the Gatorade commercials for some reason, IS IT IN YOU??

I live in Washington state, and i played in a tournament where it started raining while i was warming up, by the 2nd hole we had rooster tails on the greens behind our balls when we were putting. By the 3rd hole, the cups were filled with water. By the 6th hole, the whole course was standing water, ended up calling it after 9.

I played in one tournament this fall that was pretty memorable. It started out raining, nothing too extreme, then the thunderstorm rolled in, and we played a good two or three holes before they called it. After about an hour delay for the thunderstorm we went back out, and it continued to rain sideways for most of the rest of the tournament (which was 27 holes in one day, and they didn't shorten it because of weather).

A couple weeks ago we played in hail, there wasn't any lightning so we had to keep playing. Last year we played in 30 degree weather with 25mph winds with snow and rain.

I played in an AJGA tournament last month in Newport, RI and the wind was blowing nearly 30 mph on what seemed like every hole. I've never played a course that windy.

I played a hilltop course where the temperature was 21* with snow and winds about 10 mph. The only reason we continued play was due to the 1 1/2 hour drive on a winding road there.

In Myrtle Beach last year we played and the week we were down there the heat index didn't get below 103* and one day hit 123*. image/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Today, actually, I played in some pretty bad weather although not the worst. There was about 35-40 mph. winds and we were into the wind on every par 3 and had a left to right wind on all par 5's. I still shot alright though. 81 with a triple on the last hole (water). Lowest score on my team and 7th/65 in the tournament.

Well in late April this year I played in snow! The worst though was two years ago, I think it was September. Anyway it rained the whole way around and the wind was blowng about 40 MPH. On a par 71 it think the top three scores were something like - 76, 79, 89. It was brutal.

image/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> Yup I was there too, the wind was very tough, the weather forecast called for 35-40MPH wind gusts, and 20-25MPH steady winds for the week! This was on a course where everything was playing fast has ****, but that's all part of the tournament I guess!

That is not the worst conditions I have played in though, I hate playing COLD rain, I don't mind the rain as much when it is above 80º, but I have played in school tournaments that it was raining on the first hole, and by the time we finished our match, there were periods of snow!

I was playing in a high school tournament and there was no rain forecasted, so i didnt bring my umbrella. 12th hole, just starts pouring, and all four of us hover under the umbrella, on the ground, sitting on towels, holding the umbrella at an angle so we wouldnt get soaked, it was so funny, then we ran in the forest and hid under trees, kind of stupid but i didnt want to get soaked.

July 4th, 2003 (the day before I got married): it drizzled the entire front nine, and then everything broke loose on the ninth tee box. We waited about an hour for the thunder to lighten up...and then forged ahead.

Yellow skies meant nothing to me. Sure, the wind was pretty stiff, and the crackle of lightning was kind of scary, but we were surrounded by trees so everything was ok. Until the trees started coming down. First in parts: branches as thick as my thigh (I used to max out on squats @ 650 pounds). Then entire trees.

Simple chips turned into flop shots over fallen timber. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all cluttered with branches and leaves. Downhill fairways turned into slip'n'slides (we have pictures). There was no standing water... only running water. I felt like the priest in caddyshack...we kept telling eachother that the heavy stuff wouldn't be coming down for quite a while...but we didn't break any scoring records.

only in Iowa, last tuesday we played Conference at a course in Ft. Madison. It was crappy weather, around 48 degrees in the morning and ended up being around 75 degrees. The next day is the same way only we start on the front, really tight with trees, we don't feel a thing. We get on the back it is a constant rain, winds of 35-40 mph. A couple times I looked at my rain jacket and there were snow flakes on it. I am not as good as some of you guys but I went from shooting a 79( didn't hit my drives good but scambled, and we won Conference) to shooting an 88. It was the worst golf weather I've played in.

My name is David Tavera. I played pretty horrible the 1st round partly do to a bad swing partly do to allergies. Oh well. I'm still a freshman and I am going to work hard this year so I can have some success on the AJGA in the future. I'm playing in a qualifier in New Jersey in July but I think thats it for this year.

I've played golf in a blizzard lol. Our course has a Polar Bear golf tournament where we use black balls and only chip and putt, even then we lose balls haha

I live in North Dakota. Need I say more. Every week, we North Dakotans, play in that weather. We can play in the wind with the best of them, like Texas. Hahahaha.

Up here in NY, played on a day where the wind was blowing a steady 30 mph, and gusting over 55, with temperatures hovering around 50*. It was more survial golf and getting back to the clubhouse than shooting good.

Worst conditions hmmm... Im gonna say 05 districts where it started to pour on hole 4. Then it let up and started to pour again on hole 7! The rain was off and on almost the entire day. Thank God I took my Iron covers that day =D.

Well since I live in "Buffalo Ridge" an area well known to southwest minnesota and parts of Iowa. There are hundreds of wind mills to harvest wind energy. So you know its windy most everyday. The absolute WORST i have played in was last year in South Dakota. It was about 45 degrees at the beginning of the meet with rain and 35 mph winds. The rain had turned to hail for the last 2 holes with the wind gusts pushing balls off the green! image/russian_roulette.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':idhitit:' />

easily the worst golf conditions i have had are in edmonton alberta canada. it was the beginning of the season and it was 2 degrees celcius. of course i went out. on the 3rd hole it snowed like a crazy b****. by hole 5 there was an inch of snow and 60kmh winds. by hole 6 the carts were having trouble moving and they were coming around with hot chocolate carts. by hole 8 i couldnt feel my hands and toes. on hole 9 the snow let up and it began to rain. obviosuly we kept going, its golf. by 18 i thought i was going to die i was so cold and i couldnt swing a club lol

First time out this year it was about 2*C (35* farenheit) in HUGE gusts of wind. Me and my friend had to stop after 5 holes, it was just too cold.

Also, playing in weather that's way too hot is difficult too; 100 degree days are tough conditions as well.

Down here in Florida as one of the many Hurricanes from 2 years ago was rolling in. You could see the feeder bands coming across the sky. That was pretty crazy

Last year I was playing in some tournament the weather was supposed to be like 50* so I was just wearing a pair of pants an underarmour long sleeve shirt and a polo. No rain No sleet No hail No wind was supposed to be there but all of the above started right after i Hit my first tee ball. My mom ended up getting bronchitis and a couple other things I got sick was out of school with like a 100.8 fever and was throwing up all over the place. Lets just say from now on during the winter ill carry some extra things.

Also down at Mid Pines we had the Big "I" Classic and the heat index was never below 106!!! one kid passed out on the course. Water on every tee. Iced towels.

But Dannnng it was so hot AND WE HAD TO WEAR PANTS!
