Looking for a forgiving Gap Wedge

CG11???
I've traded in the MP-60 irons for racOS2s (I'll post that rant elsewhere)...but I've decided to go the FORGIVENESS route in my entire game.

I currently have a Miz MP-T 53 degree wedge. My fitter suggested I get the OS2 gap wedge but that just seemed way too bulky for me.

I know we don't often think of forgiveness in wedges, but can anyone recommend one? I've read that the Cleveland CG11 is supposed to be forgiving.

I would use the wedge for full shots around 110 yards...and for short pitches when I need the ball to run a bit on the green (vs. a SW).

Thanks all.

Most specialist wedges these days are clones of each other. I've done similar research, and the Solus Wedge appears to be the most forgiving specialist wedge. The TM RAC wedges would be next, with the feel pockets.

Then you get the wedges from full sets like the LT2.

I'm going to try a Solus 51 degree, but for the past 10 years or more, I have been unable to extract my original Callaway Big Bertha 52 degree A wedge in spite of changing everything else. The head is big, but it is undercut to make it really good from tight lies. I use it for pretty much every shot from 130 or so in. I also have a Big Bertha Tour Sand Wedge which is smaller but still perimeter weighted, but the old A wedge just fills me with confidence.

I agree with Ryun that it might be optimal to try and match your gap wedge with your irons especially since it's going to be a full swing club for you. In your shoes I would order an LT2 AW with the same shaft you're using in your OS2's and have it bent 1 degree strong to 50 because the OS2's are strongly lofted (OS2 PW is 45 / LT2 PW is 47 / LT2 AW is 51). If I didn't care as much about having a seemless looking set I'd be happy with the Ping Tour 50 degree as well.

I never really looked at my GW as part of my main set. Even as a 20+ handicap, I hate the look of Game Improvement irons (thus the experiment MP-60s that I failed with). I'm happy with the OS2s, but could never hit BBs, Slingshots, Launchers, etc.

When the fitter suggested I extend the set to include GW, I stood over the OS2 PW and really didn't like the look so I didn't want to extend it even further into my wedges.

Keep in mind, even though I'm a high handicap, I'm comfortable with wedges. I have a Cleveland 588 SW (that I like from the sand but not on full shots). I also have an MP-T GW that I'm comfortable with...BUT if there's a similar, somehwat traditional looking wedge that is more forgiving (like the ones mentioned here) then I'd like to try.

The racLT GW is a good idea too.

Thanks everyone. Keep the input coming...very helpful.

be careful with the cg11...from what i have read, its perfomance on touch shots near he green isn't good at all. are you sure you want a cavity in your wedges??? it really won't help that much, and anywho, it isn't like your wedges are being swun at 110 MPH, so why not a blade type wedge? I'd go with a vokey, but if you are commited to cleveland, i think a cg10 would be better. for a cavity type, check solus, they have only had posative reviews.

A couple you might consider that probably wouldn't look out of line with your new set, and can be had for cheap if you can find them, are the TA7 Tour D wedge and the TA3FF D wedge. I saw one in the barrel recently at a local shop for $20. I could see the TA3 D wedge being really cheap on Ebay if one came along.

I went with the RAC Wedges and i am very pleased. I also went with the RAC os because i dont play as much as i used to so i wanted more forgiveness. I am really thinking about going with the LT2's, i know have a practice place close to home and it is free for me. So i might switch soon.
