Nice...I'm usually not a fan of the BB5/Laguna style head, but that one caught my eye.

Congrats!!! It's nice when you finally find the "one". You might try some others out from time to time, but you know it when you find it.

Great stuff. Very simple and classy putter that you came up with. Sometimes, less is more when it comes to putters!

In my life-long search for the perfect putter, I finally broke down and created what I think is the perfect Bettinardi BB5. For whatever reason, I have always really liked plain jane style putters with no sightline or dots, and very few stampings. I have also always loved the My Day style since I first bought a good putter 15 years ago (unfortunately at that time I bought a Ping Anser because I wanted to be like Fred Couples, instead of the Ping My Day which I clearly putted better with, so stupid!!) I have tried, what seems like all the different putter technologies, and always come back to the Bettinardi Honeycomb face as producing the best feel and roll on the market.

 

I was able to purchase a Tour BB5 off another member on this site over a year ago, it had some stampings on the bottom and a sightline, so not exactly what I was looking for, but I had an idea. I enlisted the help of Kevin Colbert Plating to weld-in the sightline and stampings then sent the putter to B.O.S. to have a Patina Oil Can finish applied. I couldn't be happier with how the putter ended up looking. It is exactly the style I have always been looking for. The putter sets up so beautifully, it makes it hard not tp be confident standing over a putt.

 

There is something about the shape of the BB5 that makes me feel like I am just sweeping the ball into the hole. It puts a tight roll on the ball that hugs the green. I have never felt a softer impact (it is carbon steel) and just love the simple design and lines of the head.

 

So thanks to the folks at Bettinardi for making a great putter and helping me make more putts hopefully!! Enjoy the pictures.......

There is also a long thread on this board about the fact that having no sight aid often improves accuracy, so you are definitely on to something.

Nice. I had BOS strip and put that same finish on a BB-1. It came out stunning, just like yours. That putter of yours looks PERFECT.
