Any juniors going to new grooves?

Just my thoughts, Im curious if anyone agrees
So I am a senior in high school and i will be playing college golf and amateur golf in the near future. I am currently using Spin Milled wedges that I have been using for over two years. They are really worn, so no matter what I am in the market for new ones. But I am almost thinking about using conforming grooves now. I don't want to get used to the sharp box grooves, and then have to go to the new U grooves and not be able to control the ball.

So have any of you thought about switching to the conforming grooves as soon as next year?

Not sure yet, I'm taking a PG year. With respect, you're missing my point. I know that I may be at a disadvantage for the next year or so, but I don't want to get used to sharp grooves and then have a big adjustment period. I don't want to get too used to hitting low spinners, and then having to learn how to hit different shots to stop it. It may be confusing and not make any sense to you, but I am really thinking about it. Plus, the current wedges spin too much for me anyway.

I have been playing with V groove wedges (original TM racs) for a while and got 3 new SM vokeys for my birthday this year and the difference is huge, I mean its night and day, with my old wedges I had no shot of the getting the ball to stop out of the rough ecpecially if the green sloped away from me. Wtih my SM wedges it is one hop and stop from the rough and backspin of the fairways. If you havent played v groove wedges in while you are in for a rough time come 2014.

The SMs spin way too much for me on full and sometimes even partial shots out of the fairway and rough, so idk I am really thinking about it. Can anyone name any conforming wedges that I could pick up for cheap to test? Thhanks

I'm a senior and on product support with Titleist.
They've been giving us the tour wedges with conforming Pga tour u grooves. Its such a big difference
and much harder to control compared to the sharp box grooves. they go much higher and just release when they land on the greens.
I figure you should get both sharp grooves and the new conforming ones and practice with both. Mainly with the sharp one for tournaments, but also ingrain a inner feel for the conforming groove.

So if you're not sure of your college yet it means your are going to play in a few more tourneys before you decide, correct? If that is so I think you will want to score as low in those as possible. If that is the case I don't know why you would want to give up strokes in those tournaments by putting yourself at a disadvantage to your competition.

I don't really agree with the idea of switching until just before the deadline. I have hit the new grooves, yes they are a lot harder to stop, but with a little practice you get used to it. I'm not switching until I have to, that's for sure.

Do you have to switch now if you want to qualify for the US Jr or Jr Am this coming summer--both USGA events.

you only need to switch to conforming grooves if you will participate in and professional tournaments or qualifiers..
if you are playing amateur tournaments whether it be club tournaments, city am, and U.S. am, you do not need to change to conforming grooves. the grooves wont be in effect for usga amateur tournaments till 2014

I plan on buying the vokey's with the square grooves this year, and when they wear out im going to go to conforming because I graduate it 2014.
