Ping S57 vs. Ping eye 2's

First off i am by no means should be hitting a blade like the S57 but today i was in my local golf shop and decided to hit the S57 for fun, i also hit the i10 and i15 and for whatever reason i hit the S57 much better. i usually hit in the 80's and 90's and i currently play ping eye 2's. So my question is is there any comparison with between the eye 2's and tghe S57? should i even consider picking up a set of the S57? And if you have any experience with them please tell me what you think..

I think the 57's are some of the best looking ping irons out there. The traditional blade look is more appealing to me than the usual inch wide sole offerings. I also hit those while shopping one day (indoor off a mat) and i really liked the way they felt. I am not sure however they will give the forgiveness you're accustomed to. The thing is that if you can find a used set and they don't perform as well as you hope then you can sell them for pretty close to what you paid.

This is comparing Apples and Oranges. Technically they are far apart, the Eye2 are old school cavity backs, a great club for their time. The S57 are more of a players club, stronger lofts, more workable for a draw or fade.

The Eye 2 are a classic, but like classics they don't live up to modern cavity backs irons.

Please don't start bomb barding me with how I am full of it, and your still playing Eye 2s. I have owned at least 4 sets of Eye 2s, and still have an original set of BeCu, red dot. I play them occasionally, but they are no longer my first line iron.

Oh no i totally agree this is why im looking for a new set becuz i want the new technology.

I think that the Ping S57 are an excellent choice. You might also consider Titleist AP2.

One of the things I found moving between an offset Eye 2, to my first line irons with no offset (TM RAC LT), is that I hit the ball straighter. With the offset I had a tendency to pull the ball a little.

Any idea if the s57 is easy to hit for an average golfer? For whatever reason the s57 remind me of the eye 2 and i realy like the slim design bigger clubs toy with my head to much

The S57 is easier to hit than the S59. I only hit a couple of shots with a friends S57s and didn't them hard to hit. I prefer the AP2 though, I thought easier to hit and get airborne, they were shafted with 5.5 rifle.

Ehh forget all this im goin with the mx-300's, great feel and easy to hit

I upgraded my set of Ping Eye2's to S57's in December, 09. I also shoot in the low 80's but anticipate breaking into the 70's this year.

Difference:
* The size and topline of the S57 can be more intimidating, but I prefer it. (not as bulky).
* The S57 communicates shots better (audibly and physically)
* The S57 is somewhat forgiving but still affords great workability. You should be okay with the S57's IF...

1 You have a straight swing path (no inside-out, outside-in). The club will exacerbate fades, draws, HOOKS and SLICES
2 You can hit a quarter sized sweetspot with regularity. The club is fairly forgiving on distance across the face (heel to toe).

Lastly, If you hit the ball too low on the face - IT PHYSICALLY HURTS!!!
