blueboard/whiteboard tipping

how to get 260 cpm ?
I have a factory installed,, genuine blueboard 73 stiff in 909 d3 driver. Was unhappy with the matrix made for Titleist which frequencied about 250 cpm (r/s) , so i had them put in BB.

This BB shaft (not made for titleist, but genuine) frequencies about 255 (s). It still feels a little soft and ball flight is pretty high and distance is shorter than my 4 year "gamer" which is a 905S w/ bore through YS-6+ stiff. The 905 frequencies at 260 (s/x) and feels right stiffness for me. I can hit it high or low and a smooth controlled swing will give a low, accurate shot. It may be worth noting that my 950s is 9.5 and 909 d3 is 10.5.

Given that my 909 d3 is a 10.5* I have considered that a stiffer blueboard may not be the fix i am seeking to get a stiffer feeling shaft capable of hitting low shots when needed. Also , it has occurred to me that this bb may be the perfect shaft for my 14.5 burner tp which needs a new shaft.

I am thinking about 45" driver (same head, 909d3 10.5) at 260cpm, by tipping the existing bb shaft an inch(?) and extending the butt the same amount....or maybe a new Whiteboard instead ?? ...and then trying to get the bb tipped properly to get 3w at 42 3/4".

Thanks to anyone that has read this post and may have some input for me. I know frequencies vary from machine to machine a bit depending on clamping etc, but these frequency #'s are pretty close and are measured with grip on.

Here are some questions i would like answered, if possible:

Would a whiteboard 73 g stiff installed by titleist be the same freq as the bb (around 255). Would it play stiffer than bb at same freq ? Would asking titleist to tip the WB one inch be the ticket or will this be too stiff ? I only swing 95-100 with 3/4 action/moderate transition but like a shaft without too much whip or waggle, partly to allow me to swing aggressively. What about a 63 g wb ?

About how many cpm's higher will one inch tip trimming achieve ?

Can i get the bb to play at around 275 cpm in my 3w ? I assume i must tip it to the max of the parallel section, and extend butt, if necessary.

Lots of vague questions here but i am hoping someone has been down this road before and could make some suggestions or relate their experience about playing these Diamana shafts, tipping them, etc.

Lot's of random stuff here.
1. Can you really differentiate a 5cpm tolerance in a club?
2. Are you confusing a 'soft feeling' BB with it's flex? Two different things.
3. A 95-100mph 3/4 moderate swing would not suit a 73g WB - a 63g maybe but certainly not one tipped an inch.
4. Tipping an inch is roughly 8cpm I think, but the two different shafts would have a different cpm to start with.
5. The 905 with the YS6+ sounds like a good fit - stick with it?

I would suggest finding a fitter that has a WB you can test. Assuming you could dial in the butt frequency to exactly the same for a BB and WB, the results would not be the same, nor would the feel be the same. The BB has a much softer mid-section, the WB is very stiff in the mid-section. There are also differences in the tip and butt flexes. Focusing on the butt frequency as a predictor of performance and feel is going to get expensive. Go get fit or at least try a WB before spending any cash. If you liked the GDI shaft, why not stick with it?

If you really need to burn the cash, PM me for more suggestions

All you're doing by freq'ing these shafts is comparing their butt stiffness. You aren't comparing their overall stiffness or bend profile which is more important and what you seem to be after. Frequency matching shafts, as you are, is only usefull if you are comparing/freq'ing the same shaft to another identical shaft make, model, wieght, and flex. To compare one shaft to a different model shaft, you would need to perform a bend profile for both shafts - then you would have a apples to apples comparison.

Or you could contact a clubfitter with bend profile software. He/she could give you a handful of shafts that play the same as your favorite shaft with just a couple mouse clicks.
