Is the Hogan LEGEND shaft the same a the old Apex?

oops! I mean't LEGEND not VECTOR

The Vector 4 appears to have the identical step pattern as the Apex 4 (early model) and I am wondering if they are the same shaft. I have searched the many Apex shaft topics but I can't seem to find the info. Also, does anyone have the specs for these shafts? I've already been through the countless debates about what current shaft is most like the Apex, but I'm looking for actual data (weight, cpm, butt dia., etc). Although I am wondering if the PX has any similarities to the Apex/Vector.

Sorry, I meant LEGEND not VECTOR! Only 45 and already having "senior moments".
So just insert Legend in place of Vector and let's start over. Thanks.

Well, I'm old enough to remember that there is a difference. Sadly I'm also old enough to have forgotten what that difference is... :lol:

vector was the shaft used in the light weight clubs, that hit the market for a year or so. does anyone remember featherweight clubs, with swingweights in the c6 range.

apex is a low bend point shaft, as they all have a very high first step. they are butt stiff and tip soft. which was great for the Hogan low launching forged heads of the period. they were in the 114 to 116 range if memory is correct.

i played the apex 4 shaft for a few years. as i got to be a better player, then I liked the apex 5 better.

still a great shaft even today.

Oh that's funny. :lol: I was thinking the exact same thing, and Hogan used about 5 different shafts back then but now I can't what they were either. :wave:

This thread may help. I remember the Old Guy had a set of Speed Slots with Vector shafts that he liked back in the day. But I'm unsure why. His sense of feel is about as delicate as a blacksmith's. :rolleyes:

Thanks for the link, that chart clears some of the fog. I also noticed mention of the Legend having an oversize butt dia., this would explain why I used many a curse word regripping a set of old Hogies last night!
