Best place to get fitted?

Recommended Posts

I am pretty new to the whole golf scene and after reading around have found out that getting fitted for clubs is an essential thing to do. So my question is, what is the best store to get fitted at? First, I'd like to get a driver fitting. How much would that cost? To clear up my understanding, is a fitting to see which club is best for you, or to optimize your current club? Thanks so much.

Other than the GG/GS/Edwin Watts I know of three. I'm sure there are more, but these are the ones I know in our area:

Cool Clubs at Hank Haney Golf Ranch in Lewisville.

CompuGolf on Frankfort in Carrollton

Fit2Score

Jonathan at CoolClubs is an awesome guy and very helpful. My fitting with him turned into a lesson from one of the guys at HH because I was so inconsistent he didn't want to take my money and not get a real good fitting with me. He gave me some insight and recommendations and to come back when the consistency starts to get there.

I am going to CompuGolf on Saturday to get what they call a Biometric Swing Analysis. I can give more info on these guys after this.

Fit2Score just moved from their Southlake location but I don't remember where. The guy that runs it also is a pro at Winstar up in Thackerville, OK. He can do the fitting at his local shop or at the Winstar Golf Course facility.

CompuGolf is going to be the cheapest and uses a system he claims is state of the art that he has developed. It may very well be...we shall find out. Cool Clubs and Fit2Score I think are going to be in the same price range, but my telephone conversations with the two and personal experience with Cool Clubs push distinctively to Cool Clubs.

Pricing is on the CompuGolf website. Cool Clubs and Fit2Score is $99 for a driver fitting. I don't know the technology of F2S but CC uses Trackman.

It isn't HH that does the fitting. Cool Clubs has an operation inside HH.

When you walk in the front door there are 3 doors on the right side of the proshop. The farthest door is the Cool Clubs guy. When I get home I can get you his name and contact number PMed to you.

He has a lot of heads and shafts in his area so don't worry about the lack of options. I hit Titleist, Taylormade and Ping drivers when I was there. He also has Callaway driver heads. Hybrid, iron, and wedge heads seem to be at least as multiple.

Jonathen is soft spoken? If so I know who your talking about. How much was a fitting going to cost you there?

Club fitting is both a science and an art.

In the long run, the only way to get fitted is to fit yourself. There will never be a completely perfect way to determine the right clubs for YOU.

Fitting the loft and lies of irons is not too hard - a simple lie board can do that. Determining what length shaft is right for you, and the bend point, and the proper stiffness, is a quest that you are going to have to be prepared to spend time and money to achieve.

Driver fitting can be even more particular. Or, easy if you determine that equipment is not as important as perfecting your swing. That is a decision that you will have to make.

That is probably him.

The driver fitting was $99 but he didn't charge me for it because I wasn't consistent enough for him to get significant numbers for me. I took a lesson instead and he still gave me the info and some generic recommendations to go from. Depending on what happens on Saturday at CompuGolf I will go back to Jonathan.

I don't know how much a full fitting is.

A local guy here in Michigan with all the right equipment told me $50 to check all of my clubs specs... and then $5.00 a club if they need to be altered after doing swing analysis. Didn't check anywhere else because he is local and had great reviews and the price seemed right. Anyone I can help in this wonderful Michigan economy sounds like a good thing to me!
