Tournament scores of a junior golfer

well there have been two tournaments this golf season so far and i need to tie up some loose strings in my golf game.

shot a 76, had a problem with getting in a groove... that day my game had potential to go a couple under

junior world qualifier. played horribly, had no confidence with my irons the first day which led to a 79, second day was just awful, had 21 putts on the backnine and a triple on a 330 yard par 4 which led to a 81 :black eye: . really felt like i embarrased myself here.

got another tournament coming up in jan and ill keep u guys posted.

thanks, yeah i know had a lesson today really feel like im getting my swing more consistent i will try to post some vids tmmrw.

Do you think it could be the mental game. I am a single digit handicapper, but in tournaments I shoot like high 70's all the way to mid 80's. That's what I'm working on to get to the next level of getting down to par.

You're young. Just try and get better every day. For instance Blain Staggs, a SD mini tour player, didn't make his high school or junior college team and only a few years later is VERY good and made it to second stage of Q school last year. Not everyone learns at the same rate. Put in the time and you never know what will happen.

Set some personal goals so you have something to focus on during your tournaments. You are young and have plenty of time to get to a plus index, but you need to build some confidence. Choose a number you want (and are capable) to shoot in each tournament and use that as your goal. Or, pick a troublesome part of your game and set a goal to improve on it (ex., fairways hit or GIR).

Doing this will give you positive reinforcement that your hard work is paying off. Once you improve in an area, make that your new expectation and move on to a new goal. Over a reasonable amount of time you will be shooting low scores AND feeling confident in your ability.

thanks for the input guys, im going to the range tommorow and I am working on my putting- specifically pace. i.e. if i miss a putt, its not more than 1-2 feet away.. ill also take some vids of my swing and get em up here

latest tournament, played yesterday...

got 2nd place with a score of 72. should have won the damn thing, if you look at my card i kind of choked 2 bogies in the last 6 holes.

I like that I was a little more consistent and no blow up holes. Next tournament is in late feb and Ill let you guys know how i did. Tournaments are

pretty slow until late spring where we start having like 4 a month..

Talk about an all or nothing player, check out the guy that beat you(im sure you have) 6 birdies to shoot one under? Wow

yeah i would actually be pretty mad to have 6 birdies and only shoot 1 under hahaha

72's solid, and Angelucci's a good golfer. One of many great golfers out in Cali like iteachgolf said. Have you ever tried qualifying for an ajga tournament? Now would be the time to try some more competitive tournaments if you wanna get a bit more serious. And I know out here on the west coast theres a lot of qualifiers.

Angelucci had 3 bogies and a double! How could he still shoot under par? Can't believe you got beat with a birdie on 18. Tough luck, sorry about that (it's probably going to happen to everyone sometime though). Good luck in your next tournament.

i didnt make my HS golf team, i shot 48-46 it was really really trippy, hopefully this is a sign my game hasnt dissapeared.

your high school golf team must be amazing, beacuase you'd be one of the best on mine,

dont worry about winning, just worry about the process

yeah our HS golf team is really really good, i think last year the number six guy had like 39.8 scoring averzage or something...

i transferred from a diff HS, but yeah i shot a 94 over two days hahah it was a pretty hard fail, but w/e two second place finishes in a row so w/e tournament golf is

more important. got another tournament next weekend 2 dayer, ill let you guys know how i do...

Had the coach seen your scores(tournament ones I mean)? That's crazy, but there's always next year.
Forgot to add: I don't play for my school either. I didn't try out though, I played my sophomore year, didn't try out this year(junior as well), because our coaches are disrespectful and get bossed around by the other players. I didn't like that, but they wouldn't address my claims, so I told them I'm not gonna play(in much much much different words). It's actually a lot easier to practice, and play more/different courses.

i try to see it on the bright side, i can focus on my grades and getting better on my own and playing more tournaments
