    Another Parker-ite here.

After a long hiatus, I recently joined a traveling golf league where we play various courses around the area on Saturday mornings (sometimes Sundays, sometimes both). First tournament is 5/5 at Saddle Rock, and the "tour championship" is at Castle Pines Golf Club (The International course) in October. One tournament I'm looking forward to is playing both Riverdale courses on the same day.

Because of other commitments, I usually only have time to hit Family Sports for a quick 9 every other Sunday afternoon (if I'm lucky). Now that I'm graduating from graduate school this May, my calendar will open up quite a bit.

I must say this past winter was truly awful. Normally I can hit the links once or twice, but everything was pretty much covered in snow until early March. And the skiing wasn't all that great this season, either. What a double whammy.

Just happened to stumble across this thread as it came up in the main forum index. Joshn08, I think most people like me just don't realize that this area of the forum exists since it doesn't get much traffic.

Pseudoswede, tell me more about this league you're in, sounds interesting! Especially the part about Castle Pines, been wanting to play that for years!

I was a member at Green Gables for a bit until it sadly closed last year, so now I'm back to the muni ranks. There are some great public courses in the Denver area though, and I live near downtown so I travel all over to play, whatever is available and has a good deal. I used to play in the Westminster mens league at Legacy Ridge and Heritage at Westmoor, a couple of my favorites. Colorado National, GVR, RD Dunes, were a few of our other regulars, as well as the city munis occasionally.

Last weekend I played South Suburban for the first time, for some reason I had never made it down there before. Really liked that course, and they even rolled the greens so they were super fast, a rare treat here in the Spring. Good condition overall as well for so early.

It would be nice to get a good discussion going here regarding the area course conditions, when they aerate, etc.

You should go back in the summer after a long, dry spell. The greens turn into slanted driveways!

Thanks Pseudoswede. So I was just looking, and there is also a "Rockies" section of the "Courses and Travel" part of the forum, that I had looked in before, though it's even less active that this part. There are probably a lot more members here that would be active if they knew these local discussions were even taking place. (Mods, any ideas?)

this section used to have a few people talk in pretty regulary but died off after september apparently. I would like some more information about this traveling league if you can.

Would anyone want to do a get together sometime in the next few weeks. I need to get my game back in time for my buds bachelor party mid May. Got to show them up.

I would be in for a get together. I have never played with and WRXers being a fairly new member, but it would be fun to meet some new people to play with. I live in Fort Collins and will be out of town the 26th through the 1st but i am always down to golf. Mat

Another Northerner, I am over in Greeley. Always up for a round of golf.

As for the rest of the thread, I'm jumping in kind of late, but would love to get together for a group round.

I'd be up for 18 anytime over the next few weeks. M/W/F afternoon's, or Sundays work for me. I haven't played any Ft. Collins courses in a while, Windsor could be a good middle point.

My schedule is kind of confusing but here is what works for me: Tuesday mornings (work at three), the next three Wednesdays would need to be done about 4:30 then Wed are open for the rest of the season, Thursdays are wide open, Saturday mornings are good (work at three), and my Sundays alternate work at three or get off at three. Hope that makes some sense.

I'm actually up in Fort Collins also. Mat would you happen to know a Josh and Jonathan by chance. I know a Mat or Matt we met at Collindale.
  • MrlangMrlang Members Posts: 52
I dont think that.was me but could be wrong. I havent played collindale very much this year. This seems pretty promising though we should get this outing going !

Sorry to jump into your thread guys, but I would love to join up with some othe WRX'ers sometime too. I actually live in Western Nebraska, about 140 miles from Ft Collins. But I have a daughter going to school in Greely and son and daughter in law in Highlands Ranch so we are in the area probably once a month or so.

I've only played Fox Hollow, the course out by Flat Irons (can't for the life of me remember the name) and the front nine of Saddle Ridge. Would love to have some people to play with when I'm over there.

Murphy Creek and Saddle Rock, but I'm not opposed to driving to other courses in the south metro area.

Playing Family Sports today. Should be an adventure. At least #9 will be with the wind.

I hope so! Decided to go back to school and Florida is just getting too crazy. I'm 28, single, and going back to school. Unless you got moolah, Florida is not going to be a good idea. Plus Florida is not very good for young business professionals unless you know alot of people and can get plugged in. People are loosing it around there. Plus I have some family in Colorado.

I'll move back home when I am loaded and can lock myself away from the madness in Jupiter!

I will do that, I've been at the course just north of Hwy 34 and out west a bit (maybe 50th ave ish), just hitting balls and on the putting green, but it looks pretty nice. Can't think of the name to save my life though.

Chiming in here from Northglenn, CO...

I moved to CO late last summer from East TN. No golfing buddies and I haven't had a lot of time to play due to my other hobbies (mostly riding my new Harley-Davidson and checking out our new town). So far I have only played a handful of courses around here.

I can play on the weekends so PM me if you want to - always up for making new friends and checking out new courses.

That would Boomerang I think. I'm there hitting balls 3-5 days a week.

Denverite here. I just moved back, and the guy I usually play with is getting married, so he has been too busy to tear up a course with me...I would certainly be interested in playing with you guys some time - I can pretty much only play on weekends. I am a decent ball striker who scores terribly (I'll come out and say it - my short game is a mess but I cant seem to find the time to make it better)

Also - has anyone ever used Gott Golf - http://www.gottgolf.com/ I need to move to a stiffer shaft in my irons -i had been going to Lennys but the past couple of times I went there I left sort of disappointed...

    Thanks
