I get to sit outside tomorrow morning in a cap and gown for two and a half hours. I'd definitely rather be golfing.

Can't believe how nice it's been during the week, but crappy on weekends. Played Omni last Saturday, early morning, 45º all day.

Despite the awful, cold weather, I made the turn at Red Hawk Ridge only 2-over. And, just like last time, the wheels fell off on the back nine. I striped monster drives on the two par-4's, only to end up with a double and triple. Argh.

The only thing I forgot to do was wear contacts.

Glad I don't have to worry about it tomorrow. Hopefully I can have two solid nine's at Red Hawk Ridge this time.

Looks like a good day to play today, but I wanted to play local, and the course is closed for the Girls 4A State Championship Tourney. Guess I'll just peruse the BST to fix my itch.

Wishful thinking. Shot a 37 on the front, and made just one par on the back (the 18th). Argh.

A friend on Facebook has a great term for the current state of my golf game.

How did you finish for the two days? I'm still contemplating joining.. I'd really like to play the Marathon at the Dunes.

Through some miracle, I actually finished in the money overall and on Day 2 (not sure how much since I was the first group out and had to sign my scorecard then leave for another commitment).

Overall gross winner was 83-80. Overall net winner was 69-67.

Overall gross for any 2-day tournament is probably 6-7 shots higher than it should be. Day 1 leader had an even more epic collapse than me (76-92).

hey masamitsu I saw your post in the thread I made about the driver. I went out to a golf shop here and hit a few drivers and I decided on the Adams Fast 12 LS with the Matrix Ozik 6M3 in Strong/X-Stiff. Just need to sell one last thing and I will have enough money image/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
  • masamitsumasamitsu Members Posts: 2,488 ✭✭
What other drivers did you hit? I agree about the Fast 12, I gained a little distance but my misses weren't too penal.

What did you think of the AMP? that's one I didn't try. OH and thanks for the heads up on the Srixon Zstars, I ended up getting 5 boxes.

Just played Plum Creek for the first and last time last night. What a sad state of affairs. Obviously an impressive layout with a ton of potential, but man that place is struggling. Sad to see a course like that in such disrepair.
  • masamitsumasamitsu Members Posts: 2,488 ✭✭
It's really gone downhill then. I played it a couple of years ago and thought it was pretty nice. Truly sad...

No problem man. And the AMP was actually a pretty good club but didn't beat the Fast 12 LS. The AMP was the second favorite out of the group. Hated the R11s just can't stand the bright white top but the silver on the LS and AMP is nice.

The biggest thing for me is the shaft option on the LS. It's a free upgrade to the Matrix Ozik 6m3 Black Tie which is a $300 shaft in itself and it's the real deal not a made-for shaft. Just gotta save a few more bucks up and I'm good to go.

  • MileHiMileHi Members Posts: 204
Funny - they forecast those crazy winds for Saturday and I cancelled my morning tee time. Got up, zero wind. I don't think it started until at least 1:00. Amazing how wrong they can be with the forecast here.
  • masamitsumasamitsu Members Posts: 2,488 ✭✭
I played on Saturday morning (7:20) and I agree it was barely blowing.. however, by the time we got to 14 it was blowing pretty hard. Friday was crazy. I saw a ball in the air go backwards because of the wind.

and TGW doesn't have the shaft upgrade I want. Thanks for looking out for me though.

Playing Raccoon Creek tomorrow. My High School is putting a tournament on and my old golf team mates and I are playing on the same team. Going to be fun.
  • joshn08joshn08 Poor College Golfer Members Posts: 221
My team got second at the tournament. Won the long drive also so I had about $145 in gift cards to the pro shop there. Bought a Nike Method Core putter and man is that putter awesome.

I hit the driver straight just way too high for my liking and it ballooned a little also.

But Masamitsu I went the PGA store and hit the Fast 12 LS against the Bridgestone J40 430 and I'm getting the Bridgestone now. Man is that a good driver, the head looks more like a players driver and the shaft options are unreal. And it's cheaper than the Adams.
  • masamitsumasamitsu Members Posts: 2,488 ✭✭
Humm... I'll have to check that out.. Bridgestone wasn't even on my radar.
