New Bridgestone J38 irons

Who else is interested?
I've been looking at the pictures and specs on the Bridgestone website, and I am getting pretty interested in the new J38 Cavity Backs and J38 Dual Pockets.

From the description, it looks like the blade length will be a bit longer than my J36 PC's. Can anyone confirm?

These also look pretty close to what Fred Couples has in the bag, though I doubt his have any offset.

I am thinking, perhaps, the Dual Cavities from 4-iron to 7-iron, and the Cavity Backs from 8-iron to PW.

thoughts?

I want to be, but they look like the J36's. Someone needs to convince me of the benefits of these over them.

I'm always excited to see new Bridgestone equipment, especially the new J38 driver. It's been over 4 years (2006) since they released a new model under the Bridgestone name. I'm curious to know why Freddy is not gaming the J38, anybody know why he gamed an R9 @ the Mitsubishi this weekend?

Im interested as well but just got a brand new set of J36 CB's w/KBS and they are really good.
Will be committed to playing these for a while unless I can get a set of the J38's somehow.
How great do Freddies J36's look btw...wow!
Have the J38 prototype (tourstage 901) driver w/Oban Devotion and its too much club for me and need to go a different route with the shaft....head/setup looks amazing!

Just replaced my J33CBs with J36 PCs so it will be next year before I look at the J38 irons. I am however interested in the J38 driver, woods and wedges.

I'm very interested. One question though. All Mizuno threads say that qc is a little sketchy ie lofts, lies and sw all over the lot. How does Bstone compare? I really like the PC's but don't want to have to rebuild new clubs. Thanks
Forged clubs are soft enough that over time the loft and lies need to be checked anyway. They can be perfect now and several clubs can be off in a matter of weeks or months. It's always good to know a good club fitter or club repair person in your area where you can have them checked and corrected if necessary. If you like the clubs, don't worry about whether they are to spec when you get them. They can easily be adjusted. I have mine done every now and then by a pro and it's $35 to check both the loft and check the lies by hitting off a lie board. No big deal. No rebuild required. A simple operation using a bending bar by someone that knows what they are doing.

Are B'stone irons accurate to specs out of the box, or do you have to fool with them?

My J36 PC's were right on spec; swingweights were terrific.

When I ordered my J33cb's, they were all perfect except one club, which was .5 deg. off.

im so excited to try these out; they look absolutely gorgeous.

as for bstones accuracy, bridgestone is known for having some of the tightest quality control out there. their forgings are incredibly clean and solid, and new clubs typically spec out perfectly. i personally havent heard of anybody (albeit 3 people) receive a new set of stones that werent 100% on spec.

From looking at the new J38 irons from the earlier pics and PGA show demo day, they look good not great and ill stick with what I have. Im happy with my brand new J36 Cb's and look forward to having them in the bag for a while.
Now if Bridgestone would make Freddies irons I would be all over that...doesn't get much better than these.

As good as the irons look I think I'm more interested in the Driver and FW--they look great. They have a demo day at a local club on Feb. 7th--I should get to hit their new line-up then

If you look at the J38 irons in the Pics thread for the Torrey Pines tourney this week they are way different than the retail J38 irons. Anyone know if there is a way to get bridgestone tour stuff?
I agree. The heads look huge. Based on that picture, I would not consider them.

But, being a ho, and looking to see how they are different from last year's modes, i will probably order a 6-iron.

I have to say, don't knock it til you try it. I had the same thoughts about the Nakashima NX1 compared to the NP1. The NX1 was longer heel to toe and more rounded. Also wasn't forged (304 cast stainless) and had a little more offset in the longer irons. Hit them side by side and hit the NX1's better. They even felt better. Bought hte NP1's anyway because.

Should go great with your new J38 Driver! Congrats on winning that, very cool

I can't wait to see the new irons in person either, PC/CB J38 combo would be killer

I've been gravitating towards more forgiving designs (and my handicap is thanking me,) so those dual pocket cavities look intriguing. I liked everything about the J36's except that the lead edge tended to dig on me a bit. The j38's look like they have a more rounded lead edge, so that looks good.

My B-stones have always been great as far as the specs.
