PGCC questions, Help me out Alums

Recommended Posts

Ok so me and my buddy are going to be attending PGCC Hilton head, SC campus this fall and we have a few questions, so i was wondering if you guys could help me out...

1.What type of clothing is worn to class, im guessing golf polo and some golf shorts?

2. Do they do drug screening?

3. What is there to do in the down time besides working on your game?

4. Are the classes hard? Is there a lot of homework? I know this will differ but just liked to see what I'm up against.

5. Are the golf pros more one on one or groups?

6. How are the "weekly" tourneys?

7. I plan on getting a job at a local pro shop for a couple days out of the week, since there is plenty of courses im sure jobs are a dime a dozen no?

8. How are the conditions of the apartments?

9. The MON-THURS free golf, how does this work, just grab a tee time and get out there? Im sure you have to walk too?

10. Jobs after PGCC, primarily RnD for like a OEM, is that easy to obtain?

or if i was trying to get a a**. pro job at a local Hilton head course so i can start a life out in SC, what are the odds?

sorry for all the q's had a a lot written down.. thanks in advance

I can help you out.

1. clothes - polo and pants everyday, belt, dress shoes, clean shaven, and hair must be neat. Fridays we wear shirt, tie, and PGCC sportcoat.
2. Drug screening- twice a semester.
3. downtime- hang out with friends, anything you want really.
4. classes are easy if you try and apply yourself and do the work. pretty much like any other school in that matter. just have fun with the instructors. they are all experts in there field.
5. lessons are one on one.
6. weekley tournaments are very professional. pants required at all times, tournament comitee, rules officials the whole nine yards. if you play slow ur on the clock. the results are posted immediately after and also a caligraphy leaderboard. 9-10 tournaments a semester if ur good. you have to qualify for them though so you better shoot good.
7. jobs are hard to come by, not gonna lie. only 1 kid in my class got one out of 52. dont assume just cause you go there youll get a job like that.
8. apartments, decent...
9. you sign up on the tee sheet. carts are usually 6-10 dollars. walking free.
10. you will be able to have access to jobs when ur done. but they dont just give you them. you have to work at it, and they will not hand you anything. its all about you and how much you intend to work. the harder you try the better job you get. very simple. odds are good if you just wanted a shop job and party in hilton head for the rest of ur life.

i would schedule a visit if i were you, you will get more of a feel to it... hope this helps

it did a lot thank you very much..

I feel I will be very successful there in my game, as well as school and sourcing a job afterwards. Ive held a lot of management positions and my work ethic is great. Im Praying I can get a good job and live out there the rest of my life making decent money... (dont we all) lol being from the midwest the winters suck out here so to relocate there after school would be ideal
