SQ Tour vs regular SQ

My SQ Tour shafted with a Diamana 63 is pretty workable either way. A swing that would normally produce a subtle draw or fade is normally straight though.

i've got the sq tour w/ nv-75 as well and haven't hit a draw yet with it. i play a fade, and a draw is a mishit/bad swing for me. i've a sq w/ v2-65 and i get the occasional draw in there ever once in a while. i find the sq easier to square at impact, although they are both easy to square up.

it has always been easier to impart sidespin with the tour...

Regular SQ is more closed.

both sq models are square, if you can find it. both my 9.5* sq and sq tour are square or at least both closed the same amount.

the sq tour without a doubt was easier to work and it had a more pleasing sound.....however the sq max has reduced sidespin as well as backspin and tends to go straight and runs out pretty well....the SQ Max does not feel as nice as the SQ Tour, but in my hands, it was about 10 yards longer !!!

There are a few regular sq's which sit square and i would say it is much easier to draw. Also sounds and feels much better in my opinion. Beware some sq's sit 1 degree closed ...

I gave Joe a call about this very issue a while back and he told me that the Tour is pretty much a fade Biased driver. He reshafted mine with a Rombax 7V05 and it makes pretty little fades that I can handle. But if I absolutely need to..... I can draw one. To me, although I've never hit one, the regular SQ sits about 3* closed. I've never seen one that sits square. Regardless..... I love my Tour now that Joe did his thing with it.

I have never seen a SQ Max even close to 3 degree closed. You must be holding it funny or wrong. Never seen one square? You haven't seen very many....

You can shape the ball a lot easier w/ the SQ Tour than the Max. It's SUPPOSED to be like that. The Max wants to go straight. You can move it a bit but for the most part it wants to go straight.

It was meant to be a little bit of an exaggeration.... I know 3* is silly but it's what "I" see. I know that's not what it is.... But no..... I've never seen a Square SQ Max at all.... and I've seen a bunch of them.... the tour issued SQs are square but I believe the original post was implying the retail version.

You've never seen a square one because you see 3 degrees closed. I'm sure there are closed Retail Max versions..but I've hit 5 different ones and each one was square. It's probably how you're holding it (or maybe it's how I'm holding it) but when I compare it to other known square drivers, I'm not holding it any differently. I think people automatically assume the SQ Tour has lower launch, more square face and the "other" is not..

Both Draw the ball well for me as that is my natural ball flight. I think the SQ Tour allows me to draw the ball better while the SQ Max really just wants to go straight. I think it will depend on your swing more then the head but the Tour allows for the draw better.

I've found the sq tour much easier to fade then draw, as a result i've been depending on that fade on the course. The draws that I've hit tend to be big hooks (I'll get handsy and turn my hands over too much).

I had a chance to test the regular SQ with stock Diamana stiff vs SQ Tour NV 75 stiff this weekend.

Got out 10 brand new balls and hit alternating drives with each driver on 4 holes. The SQ Tour was an average of 10 yards longer for me. Ball dispersion pattern was also tighter with SQ Tour. Hard to say if it is the driver or mainly just the shaft that is making all the difference.

Trajectory was about the same with both. Just had more side spin with the regular SQ. Both driver set up pretty square to me.

I will be reshafting the regular SQ later this week with the Grafalloy BiMatrix and will post my results when I get a chance.

The SQ Tour with Diamana 83 X tipped 1/2" is the first driver that I have ever been able to turn over at will. I find it fairly easy to work both ways.

Tried the regular SQ with Grafalloy BiMatrix and liked it better than the stock Diamana. Much better control with it. Carry was about the same with a little more roll.

Then tried the SQ Tour with Grafalloy Comp NT 85 stiff. I'm in love! This shaft is perfect for me. I could never get the NV75 stiff to feel right. Drawing the ball is no problem with shaft. My confidence level with this club went way up. :friends:

One interesting side note about the NV75 stiff. I had my club smith frequency the NV shaft before he took the head off. When he pulled the club back and released it, he said, "woe, that is way out line". The club went in circles, instead of back and forth. Needless to say, I'm now a big believer in getting my shafts spined.
