Going to Tapatio Springs in Boerne, TX this Sat. and need advise

A group of 20 are headed to Boerne, TX this Sat. the 27th for six days of golf and the weather forecasts don't look so hot. I've heard that the temps in Boerne are about 10 degree cooler than San Antonio and I need to plan on what to bring. We are playing at Buckhorn, Tapatio, LaCantera, Fair Oaks, Oak Hils and the other LaCantera course so not all of the courses are in the hills.

Anyone live in the area that can help? We brought you guys rain last year after a 14 month drougt, so I hope the weather Gods are going to be kinder this year.

The only advice I have to give is to skip Tapatio and The Palmer Course at La Cantera. If you are going to spend the coin on La Cantera I would call the TPC and see if you can get on there.

The Hyatt is also a better choice than La Cantera and Tapatio.

As far as the weather, in the hills outside of San Antonio it looks as though Saturday through Sunday you are looking at highs in the low 60s with Monday being the only day with a chance of rain according to the forecast. What to wear, pants and sleeves should be sufficient. Ill be playing this weekend and will be wearing pants and a shirt with an under armour type sleeves underneath.

Hope this helps.

I am in Austin and Tapatio was not worth the hour drive. I would look for some other courses. It was so short that it was not a good time. Also, they had one course that was a mess, it had unreal doglegs everywhere.

I am a st. louis native, and went to St. Louis Country Day School.

Thanks guys. No chance of changing the schedule as the guy in our group who organizes everything has already committed and paid in advance months ago. Since I don't want to be responsible for organizing the entire trip each year, I keep my mouth shut.drinks.gif

If it were up to me, we would be going back to Mesquite, NV like we did for 8 years in a row. We did San Antonio last year and you all can thank us for the rain that you so sorely needed at the time.

My wardrobe plan is to start the morning with shorts and rain pants and hopefully be able to shed the rain gear for the afternoon. Mid 60's is like the tropics compared to what we have here.

Well I wish that we could have listened to some of you as Tapatio Springs is a dump right now. My group of 20 basically have the entire resort to ourselves. The course here is a decent layout but is in horrible condition. The resort was suposed to be on the auction block this week but apparently some Texas billionaire has committed to put in $10 million to save it.

Buckhorn was a nice layout but in bad shape, LaCantera was a great layout but fairways are dormant. Played Oak Hill CC today and was the best of the bunch so far this week. Nice layout and and decent shape. I think we are just a little early in the season for anything to be in great shape.

Played the Blackjack 18 and the Live Oak front 9 at Fair Oaks yesterday. Dormant fairways there as well but the layout was pretty good. A couple of quirky holes that you really need to see before you tee off though.

No offence to the locals here in San Antonio, but I hope our group does not come back here anytime soon. Highlight of the trip so far was the drive in to Waring, TX for Wed. night steak night. What a dump, but the food was decent for $20 and the live country music was at least appropriate for the venue. The only thing missing was the bald kid playing banjo on the front porch.

Yea I wish you could have avoided tapatio, its hurting really bad right now. I would have saved your money on a few of those and stayed out at the new TPC and played there. Sorry your stay wasn't better. San Antonio in the right time of year has some nice course that are in better shape. This has been the coldest and rainiest winter in over 10 years.

Last day in San Antonio, we went back to La Cantera to play the Palmer course. Nice layout and some of the best views around. As with all of the other courses, everything was pretty dormant and the weather was overcast and chilly. Very windy on the higher elevation holes too which made for some bad club choices. Too many blind tee shots for my taste but nice layout none the less.

All in all a decent trip but I still like Mesquite, NV better. There's talk about us trying Laughland, NV next year as it is suposed to be the next Mesquite. Anyone know anything about this location?
