Favorite Ball of all Time

Callaway Tour iX is probably the best ball ever. It is by far the longest tour ball out there, spins as much as a pro v1, IMO. I also like the firmer feel that it has, some balls are just too soft.

Definitely the Pro V1X, just can't seem to get the ball to check as well with anything else, even the Pro V1 doesn't spin as u for me.

Strata tour Ace

The pro V1 Before there was a pro V1. I said my goodbyes to these last summer as my last went into some body of water or federally protected land mass. More than any other this ball does what i want it to do. 4 piece construction, eurethane cover, Big Distance, true hop and stop control, very durable. I have no idea why they stopped making these.

Then last weekend, strolling through the Golf Show in NE Ohio, i see it, 6 dozen perfect, shiny Strata tour ace. Whats this? only 30 for the whole bag? Wait, whats [i]this? [/i]5 dollars off any bag of balls 30 bucks or more?! Well then, Ring me up captain!

Modern ball I really like the Nike One Platinum. Love Prov's but only play the ones I find.

Maxfli HT and the Titleist Professional.

The Maxfli ball was a better ball, in my opinion, than the Titleist balatas which were considered the benchmark of wound balata technology. Sadly, they changed the cover composition around 1993 or so and ruined it.

The Professional was so good in its day. Truly a phenomenally good ball. Went miles, shapeable, it spun, and it even lasted a long time to boot. Basically a turbocharged Tour Balata with a more robust construction thanks to the urethane cover.

For my money, Nike's One Platinum is the best current ball. It's the nearest thing to an old balata.

Titleist professional 90 and 100.

Obviously, a ballata ball would be the favorite of all time. If you were too young to play one then that's a shame. Of course, that's also good because they were only good for about 3 holes before they got knocked out of round which was expensive.

I really enjoyed the Titleist HVC 100. That thing was quite hard, but it went for miles on the roll. I also liked it around the greens for the small punch chips, as it rolled out nicely and you could play that game. Harder to stop, but for somebody like me who hits it sky high, it really wasn't an issue. Had to manage the course a bit more, but it was a long ball, so that helped with the shorter approach shots. It was seriously durable as well.

+1 on the Maxfli HT.

Good memories attached to that ball for me. Pretty much the only ball I played as a junior during a period where I went from 13 h'cap to a 4.
They weren't cheap, but they were really good.

I used to really enjoy the original Maxfli "Black Max"

I know a ton of people just hated this ball, but I liked the Titleist Tour Prestige much more than the Professional. That has to be my favorite ball of all time.

Tour Edition back in the early 90's was a great ball. Good spin and indestructible compared to the balata's I was playing.

When I was a kid, the only ball I played was the spalding eagle. So for sentimental reasons only, since I know I wouldn't care for it now, that's my favorite. It brings back a lot of great memories.

Another vote for the Tour Edition.

PING two-colored golf balls. They definitely looked different flying through the air and rolling on the greens.

From what I understand, certain color combinations are worth some decent coin ($50 per ball or more).

Precept EV Extra Spin. Longer than balata, great spin and durable. Tour Edition was good, but spun like a gyroscope.

Titleist Low Trac Balata in 90 compression. Hard to find even in the balata days. I used to get the pro shop to order them for me. I had to buy 6 boxes at a time, if I remember right.

The Spalding Tour Edition is another great one. The Maxfil Balata ball before it became the HT was a great ball. It went further, had a great trajectory, but the dimples made it putt funny.

There is no current ball that plays anywhere close to any of these balls. I would gladly give up some distance that you gain by playing modern balls, to have the short game control these 3 balls provided.

Spalding Strata Tour Ultimate is my favorite and still have 2 1/2 dozen left.

All time favorite was the Slazenger 420i Balata, They were long and I could spin the heck out of them.

Maxfli Blue Max. Loved that ball.

Definitely the Ram Tour Lithium Balata! no matter how hard you hit it, it would always fly the same distance.
