Black and Brown Combo?

Here is my rule...Black accents Brown not the other way round.

I have a pair of Ecco shoes that are black with a medium brown saddle.

This is the same rule with darker blues. The core here is the ability to tell the two colors apart so picking colors not so close on the spectrum is key. Otherwise it comes off from afar as one being a faded or mismatched version of the other.

You can sometimes get away with (light) tan pants and black everything else.

If you're trying to pull off a muted contrast, it will work. However, I think that (like JSun pointed out) if you try it the other way around, you could have a yucky final product.

I believe Camilo just wore black everything with a tan belt and tan shoes on Saturday at the Honda....

Gross. Brown pants with black shoes and black belt is okay.

EDIT: When I say brown, I mean khaki. Light khaki. I don't play golf in brown/khaki pants personally though.

Black pants with brown shoes would look fine. Preferably with a simple black or white shirt. If you wanted to get a little more creative you could do black pants, brown shoes, white belt, brown shirt.

Black shoes with khaki pants looks fine in general. Not a great look for the course (for me). Black shoes with dark brown pants would be awkward.

Black shoes with brown pants or brown shoes with black pants is NOT ok. It is the two worst clashing colors there are. You can get away with light tan or khaki color pants and black shoes as long as you wear a black belt and have a black shirt or a shirt that has a LOT of black in it. Please don't wear brown shoes with black pants. Please, haha.

Always accent brown over black. If you're core is brown- black accessories are fine (belt, watch, shoes, etc). This has been discussed previously. It's advisable to not wear a brown top w/brown pants (unless we're talking matching sportcoat and pants).

Also: khaki < brown trousers.

Brown and black go fine.....

They go together. they're both neutrals and you can mix neutrals.

Well black and tan go very well inside a glass.

I dont think there is a color that black does not match with.

Black pants do not go with brown shoes or belt. Just as brown pants don't go with black shoes or belt. there's a million colors that go with either-just not those two together. BTW I just confirmed that with my 20 & 23 yr old daughters, fashion gurus for themselves & their boyfriends. They looked at me & laughed-for what it's worth

I like dark brown slacks with a balck shirt with brown shoes and brown belt. other than that nope.

light brown pants with black belt and shoes are fine but defintely not a dark brown pants.

I'm one of those people that is too cheap to have more than 1 pair of golf shoes at a time. I buy a pair, and wear them until they wear out, then replace them. My last pair were brown, and I wore them with black pants all the time. Not to make a fashion statement, but because they were the only golf shoes I had and they happened to be brown. To make it even better, I think I even wore a black belt.

My current shoes are the footjoy contour series that are primarily white, with brown and black accents, so they go with anything.

Khaki is not brown. Khaki is a tan, and is acceptable with brown or black. Shoes should match the belt.

Brown (chocolate) and black is much harder to pull off. If you have a black and brown saddle shoe, that will help, but will likely only cause trouble. It is very rare those colors work together....and well. I prefer to go with either black, or brown. Rarely if ever black belt/shoes and brown pants. The only shirt I did that with had tan, brown on black...and that shirt is now gone. And likely was borderline in the taste department when I had it.....
