All Inclusive Resorts in Cancun - Suggestions

The wife and I are looking to go on our 5 year anniversary and we have been thinking about an all inclusive resort in cancun. There are a few we have eyed, the front runner now is the El Dorado Royale, but I wanted to check on here to see if anyone had any suggestions or any good experiences they would like to share. We are looking for adults only really, otherwise theres just kids every time you turn around (I love kids, but dont have any of my own yet . . . ). We may get a round or two of golf in, but just looking to get away for 4 nights or so. I appreciate any help.

Excellence Playa Mujeres, or if you don't HAVE to have the all-inclusive approach, La Amada right next door. We are heading to La Amada for a week in late April.

Banyan Tree Mayakoba or Maroma if you have some $$$ to spend. I've heard Valentin Imperial Maya is good too.

Le Blanc if you must be in the middle of the Cancun hotel zone (I prefer not to stay in that area.) The Ritz Carlton is a great place to stay, also in the hotel zone.

My overall advice is that you can have a much better experience with higher-quality food and drinks if you don't go all-inclusive. Unless you're going to do a lot of drinking, the costs usually end up roughly the same.

Its about a hour south of Cancun and is really comprised of four separate resorts plus an exclusive adults only Royal Suites section (linked above).

There are no golf courses on the property, however they recently added golf packages for several other resort courses in the Mayan Riviera. It also has one of the best spas I have ever been to.

Check out the following for All-Inclusive- Royal Hideaway Resort and Spa, Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso. We stayed at Excellence Playa Mujeres a a year ago. The property itself and the rooms are very nice (all suites). However, we felt the food was not great at all and they are too cheap to heat their pools and hot tubs which I found absolutely insulting. The 5 days we were there it was a little cooler then normal and the pools were like 40-50*. Nobody would even go in the pool for more then a second to take a fast dip. The hot tubs were only like 5-10* warmer tops. There is a nice Greg Norman course right down the street but beware of the taxi cab drivers. Negotiate the rate before you get in. I paid like $10+ tip to literally go half a mile or so the first time. I then paid $5 which was fine. It is far from everything and other then the golf you can't really leave the property unless you have a car. Royal Hideaway is in Playa del Carmen and across the street from a great Robert Von Hagge course. It is also 5 min. cab to downtown which is fun place.

The whole new Mayakoba area is supposed to be great as well. Also check out the Secrets Cap Cana in Punta Cana, Domican Republic. Supposed to be a great place (it was called Sanctuary before it switched and is all inclusive now). Amazing Jack Nicklaus courses right there that the Champions Tour plays at.

Spent our honeymoon at Iberostar Grand Paraiso in PDC. The course there (Playa Paraiso) is phenomenal and very tough. Neat track designed by Pete Dye. If you stay at the Grand Paraiso you get 2 rounds free per guest per 4 days. Club rentals aren't bad ($40).

Sun Palace is a couples only resort with access to the Nicklaus Courses at the Riviera Maya property. I love the palace resort chains.

I second the Iberostar! Great Resort and even better golf course! Got married there and have been back 3 times.

I've been to Excellence Playa Mujeres as well and have nothing but good things to say about it. However, if I was headed to the area with a mind to get in some golf, it would be hard to beat the Iberostar Grand.

+1 on Excellence Playa Mujeres and also Excellence Rivera Cancun. You can go wrong with any Excellence resorts. Also there is a really nice resort closer to downtown Cancun called The Royal Cancun. A round of golf came with the room. Course was OK but it was hot as hell!!! More of a tall building resort, but was luxury all the way. Was very impressed and we travel alot to the Caribbean. All of these are Adult only.

We went here on our honeymoon and loved it. Tons of pool bars, no kids, like 7 restaurants,cigar bar,SPA. We loved the steak at Mexican restaurant the best. Plenty to do. Let me know if you would like anymore details.

Yeah this resort was one of the best we went to. We usually don't go back to too many resorts but may go to this one again.
