shaft help

Hello- I'm new to the site and was looking for some help with shaft selection. I am a scratch golfer and had been playing a 8.5 TM 580 w/ a x-100 dynamic gold (tipped an inch) I hit it consistently 300+ (118-ish mph) but figured I had to be loosing distance due to the shaft. I went in and got "fitted" and ended up with a Penley stealth 70 stiff (tipped an inch). It felt like a whip compared to the x-100 but I gave it several weeks. I just don't hit it near as well. the trajectory is a little better, but i have far less control and the extra distance has not been much if any. any suggestions other than going back to steal? I use to have a UST pro-force 75 X-stiff tipped that I hit well- is that worth trying again or is there better technology. any help would be great. Thanks!

You should be able to find a graphite shaft that suits your tastes. I was like you and had a Dynamic Gold s300 in a 975 J driver and really liked it. However thru some trial and error I now have an Accra SC75 shaft in a Cleveland Comp. I felt with my steel driver I could go after it however I wanted, and I get the same performace out of the Accra but with much more distance. I don't know if the Accra is a fit for you, but I've been told that everyone can benefit from graphite it's just a matter of finding something that works, which in your case may be a heavyweight, low-torque graphite.

Another good shaft for you to try is the NT Gafalloy 85g X stiff. If you like the weight and feel of a steel shaft this shaft is a heavy weight of the graphite shafts. I play the 65g version but you may want to try the 85g. It will give you a little better kick and still not loose to much accuracy like the other shaft. Never have been a Penley shaft fan anyway..........
