SRIXON TOUR YELLOW

Very sort of NEON Luminescent-Pearlescent !!!
So I just bought my first dozen of the Z-Star X in the Tour Yellow at my local Golfsmith which had them in already. Nice.

It's VERY NEON Luminescent-Pearlescent !!!! Not yellow at all, leaning more towards that greenish-neon, kinda like the color of that yellow Gatorade LOL. Very NEON, it's very bright. I must say, I LOVE it. When you first grab it, the surface doesn't feel sticky at all, it's almost slippery, actually, typical of that pearlescent finish which almost looks like the first layer is transparent, ya know, that you may have seen in them Volvik Crystal Golf Balls?

But it has nice feel, good spin around the green for the little chips, and it feels quite nice. I was just practicing some minor lobs and chip stop shots this afternoon. I have to test it some more tomorrow as it's supposed to be 90 degrees out where I am, so I'll finally be able to let the big dog loose and let fly high.

Was Tim Clark hitting those at the weekend?

Clark has been playing the yellow ball for at least the last 2 tournaments.

Whats the price at Golfsmith on these?

Quick question, but anyone know how the Star X compares to the Tour iX? Does it bite and stop on short 20 yard half chips?
I've played both, and to me the Z-StarX has a bit more bite around the green than the Tour iX. Off the driver, I felt like I got a bit mroe distance with the Tour iX, but the biggest difference between the two is more greenside spin from the Z-StarX.

God luv ya, man - I'm glad you dig 'em.

But whenever I see a ball that color my brain screams "Range ball!"

Hope you crush it with your driver brother!!

(Nothing but love) drinks.gif

Cheers,

Kev

That's the funniest thing! I was at the range this morning before the round, and this dude had his whole shag bag dispenser thing full of the same colored balls! And they were all the old ULTRA balls! It was hilarious. Except, of course, the difference was that his balls were the old traditional covers and had no sheen.

Yeah I did crush it today - gotta say, I think I'm in LOVE. I hit them better than the old TP Red LDP. And dare I say it - I may have been playing the wrong ball.

I was hitting the Yellow at least 10 yards longer today than the Red today. I shot an even Par 72 at my local Muni track, it was in very good shape from all the rains we had recently and they had cut the fairways so it ran a bit, I have to admit. But on all the holes that I normally expect to be around 100 yards in as usual hitting my 52 degree, I was in fact at the 80 yard mark hitting my 57! I was confused a couple of times, but I love the way I can knock this Yellow down better than the Red. Which means I was hitting it dead on about 295, with no problems. And the thing holds its line! Veeeeery nice!

Nice check up on the greens, pulled it back consistently 5 feet back with my PW, but I really loved the ease at which you can knock it down. So light and springy with the right amount of cush.

And man, the putting feel is tremendous. With my blade putter without the insert, I was dead on at the hole all day. I missed a few good birdie opps, but I was perfect with my distance and touch all day, licking the cup all day. But I was happy as I shot Par.

Yeah I will say that I have found my ball for the year.

$39.99.

As for comparison to the IX, I played the IX year and a half ago before I started playing the TP Red.
I can honestly say that it plays about the same. Very good distance and good enough on spin. If you read my other reply, I was saying that I may like this Yellow better because for the knock down, it just seems to have the right amount compression, with just the right amount of airy-ness, without feeling too light, instead of getting that stuck down feeling sometimes you get with other balls. I don't know what it is, but it must be this weird translucent finish, it just feels great!

Go for it. You won't regret it. Knock downs are excellent with this ball - and you can sort of see Robert Allenby do it a lot, you can see he's getting tremendous feel with this ball. I LOVE it.

I'm looking forward to trying these out. I think it's cool that Srixon is willing to do something different... it's been a long time since a tour caliber colored ball was in play.
My thoughts exactly. The golf ball game is tough business and this was a stroke of genius IMO. The more staff players they can get to play the ball, all the better for them. Only gonna bring attention to the ball and to Srixon, especially on TV.

Gotta say, happiness is having enough of these on hands to not have to worry about running out for a couple weeks or so. Hopefully the bright yellow will keep the loss to a minimum, but I didn't do too bad with the regulars, so I don't think these will be different. I'm more hopeful that these will keep potential poachers from finding "their" ball where I put it.

Played my first full round with yellow Z-Star X yesterday and I was very impressed. Very long off the tee (similar to the Tour D), long of the irons with maybe a hair too much spin (think Prov1X), and ok around the greens. I didn't think they spun as much as my Tour D's on short chips but I wasn't catching them flush with the wedges yesterday. Nice off the putter with a firm feel.

I caught one dead solid with my Supertri and I was at 292 according to Skycaddie which is very long for me....I'd say about five yards longer than my longest drive with the Tour D.

These things are so easy to find compared to white balls....they stand out like a sore thumb. It was pretty windy and these held up well.....not as good as the Tour ix's but still ok. I was getting a mid flight with my hybrid, long irons and driver and a high flight from my short irons and wedges. I didn't experience any ballooning off my drives but I did hit a couple 8 & 9 irons that ballooned a little.

I'm going to pick up some regular Z-Star's (non X) and see how they compare.

Has anyone compared the tour yellow to the Cally Tour i (s) ? I just switched to that ball from the Pro V1. I would probably give them a try if they were comparable.

I purchased a dozen of these, as I am making the switch to Z-Star X. I don't want to play them yet, because I want to use them after I shake the winter rust off. If they perform anything like the regular white ball, I'll be one happy camper.

Its not "think" its a proven fact that yellow is the most visible color in the visual spectrum..hence why tennis balls are now yellow. Plus before releasing this golf ball Srixon did a lot of testing, different distances, different times of day, different cloud cover, different age groups, in every test, at every distance the yellow ball is easier to see than a white ball.

at 250 yards only 20% of people can see a white golf ball...65% can see the yellow ball at 250 yards.
