Are you still using your Sonartec MD?

With all the new hybrids out there, are you still using your Sonartec MD? If not, what did you replace it with. I replaced mine with a Baffler, then a Bridgestone, a Halo and now a SlingShot Tour but I'm considering going back to the Sonartec MD. I seem to remember a very solid feel and a low to mid trajectory.

I seem to remember a very solid feel and a low to mid trajectory.

The feel and trajectory of the MD were the reason I picked it over several other hybrids I demo'ed. I don't see myself replacing it anytime soon.

I've tried darn near every hybrid out there and the MD is for me. He's the list of the ones I've tried (in no particular order) Some I didn't like for their performance others for their looks.

Ping G5

Bridgestone J33

Callaway Heavenwood

Cleveland Halo

Mizuno Fli Hi CLK

Cobra Baffler (old and new)

Titleist 503

TaylorMade Rescue, Dual, TP, etc

I love the way the MD sets up, it's adjustable, great feel and performs great. That club is the main reason I became an authorized Sonartec Clubfitter.

I dropped it for a 5 wood... (Sonartec SS07)

Im getting it higher(lands softer), alittle further, plus it serves well for the right to left shot and its great for the doglegs.

The MD is better out of rough, and does go alittle straighter, but Its fade club for me... I dont draw it that well.

Only recently converted to an MD 19* with the UST iRod stiff shaft. Its a great club and at the moment (touchwood) I'm finding it hard to hit a bad shot with it. It replaced a Mizuno Fli-Hi 18* in my bag - the MD is more versatile. In contrast to those who think the MD is hard to hit, I find it easier to be consistent with than the Fli-Hi - and that's coming from a Mizuno diehard.

sad story :idhitit:

o.k. i used it since it came out and am loving it. now me being me i constantly am trying other clubs out right, even though it is my bread and butter club; off the tee, lay ups, chipping, everything. so i am in the back yard hitting balls with 4 other clubs. once again determine the md is the best. set it on the trunk of my car :friends: and carry the rest up to the mortuary and think nothing of it. go golf saturday to pull it out of the bag and it is missing. i destroy the house looking for it and then it hits me how stupid i am. now i am saving up for an exact replacement. if there are any doubters out there that this club doesnt work they are nuts. now i sit and cry.

I have been playing these for a few months after using a Taylor Made Rescue Mid, 2 Nickent Ironwoods, and a Mizuno FliHi CLK. Nothing beats the MD's. Period.

I am carrying both 19- and a 23-degree hybrids and they have done nothing less than transform my game. I fine these incredible easy to draw or fade, to hit hi or low, to hit off the fairway or out of the rough (heck - even fairway bunkers). I have the confidence to attack pins from 225 yards out now and I am able to use my 3-wood off the tee much more as a result - yielding many more fairways hit. I even use the 23 to keep the ball low on long par 3's in the wind.

The 2 hybrids are the safest clubs in my bag by a large margin (though, you might want to ask again in a month).

I've heard that the Sonartec hits bit lower compared to other hybrids like the Nickent and Adams for example. I have also read that is you want this club to hit high, soft landing long approach shots(like a 5 wood) into greens that this is not the club (even for high ball hitters). What say you guys?

I'd say it's largely a matter of shaft choice...

IMO People who write this club off as a low ball hitter simply haven't taken the time to find the right shaft for their particular swing mechanics/speed, etc.

Sure, it might hit a low ball with the stock IROD installed, but who says you can't swap out the shaft? I presently play 2 MD's, both with NVS-85 hybrid shafts, and the things work miracles for me. Mid-high trajectory, soft landing shots - and easy from just about any lie.

To each his own.

Thnaks for the reply. I have read some stuff on the MD on BSG and most high ball hitters seem to think the head hits mid traj., not too high Thanks for the feedback.
