Are there Uglier shirts than the Shirts for the Tavistock Cup?

Every year these shirts get worse and worse. I dont even know what to say...they are just horrible.

I love the sporty stuff, i think you guys just dont think about things in the right context, years ago the stuff hogan wore was "not fit for a golf course", the stuff you guys see as traditional golf attire now was "not fit for a golf course" 50 years ago. Times change, people change, but the game remains the same. And it is a game gentleman not some holy quest to gain entrance into heaven (st. andrews to most folks on here it seems). Not directed at anyone in particular it just seems like there is a major lack of perspective in that saying someones clothes are disrespectful to the game is indeed disrespectful to the man, id rather the game take the lumps myself. Yeah, they are pretty horrible.

No it just drives me nuts when people dont agree with something they say dont watch, turn it off, dont listen. Cant I like the golf and notice that IMO the shirts look horrible. You could have said, ya know I kinda like them...ok great agree to disagree but you went on the "dont watch" route.

You said "who cares what they are wearing" I say again I posted in the [u]FASHION[/u] section. If you like them, great more power to you. I think they are terrible.

3onpar5. Why does the outfits that a group of professional golfers decide to wear for a friendly match play event matter? What would you do differently to make this event stand out?

I am not sure what you are not comprehending. In the fashion section I commented on some golfers fashion. Do you go into every post in this section and say who cares what people wear I just love golf?

I think this event stands out on its own.

I turned on the TV and saw the polos they were wearing and said wow those look bad. Went to a golf message board in the fashion section and said these shirts look bad. You responded and said dont watch without mentioning the shirts.

As I said before if you had said in your first post that you like them. That would have been no problem and we would have agreed to disagree, but you didnt do that.

The Tabasco shirts come to mind but yeah.... most of this stuff looks awful.

Why are posts being deleted?

They're club shirts with club colors and club logos in a club competition. They're not supposed to look like regular golf wear. They're supposed to look more like polo uniforms. Which they do.

I was actually thinking that they looked more like polo shirts. Just not my cup of tea I guess.

I wouldn't go out and buy one for my regular rounds. But I also wouldn't hesitate to wear one in a club competition.
I think they are meant to give more of a team uniform/team unity feel. I wouldn't mind seeing the U.S. Ryder Cup team go for something similar, instead of just wearing the same shirt/pants combo. (i.e., I think a more uniform-y uniform can lead to more team unity than a normal looking outfit that the players might wear on their own and that everyone on the team just happens to be wearing.)

I'd wear the blue ones. Not so sure about the red.

Worst shirts ever! Don't care if they are for a "club event", round of golf, polo match or bowling competition.....ugly is ugly regardless of context!!!!

i disagree. in fact i would wear the blue one without the number on the back

the team look is fine. usually the ryder cups and president cups have decent unis. they could have just worn solid color polos

They look horrible.

Although I think they were worse last year.

With the amount of money and fashion acuity on those teams they should be embarrassed, but they're not. They are still very good pros, still have loads of money and are still members of their respective clubs.

They look like a soccer team on vacation.

How can Poulter have his own clothing line, Tiger have his signature clothes planned out years ahead by Nike, yet at any of these team events, they look like shlubs?
The only teams I have seen look good on the golf course are the college players.

Blue one is solid, I'd wear it. Sleeve length looks perfect.

I really like them. Red isn't really a color I wear a lot but I love the blue one.

Er, yes is the simple answer.

Not just ugly, but frankly bizarre.

I don't have a issue with them but they do look like soccer jerseys to me.

Poulter's shoes on the other hand are not my cup of tea. I like his sense of style for the most part but those look like FJ just dunked them in vat of boiled smurfs.

The stripes have got to go.

IMO; in terms of [b]current golf clothing [/b]they are at least in the top 3 on the list of ugliest golf shirts. However, in historical context, they aren't even in the top 3 of ugliest Tavistock "uniforms". It just baffles me who designs these things. They look like awful costumes.

Although Greg Norman may have worn some hideous shirts from his collection circa '93-'95, I agree with eagle006 that the US Ryder Cup team of '99 must have been some of the worst designs ever - including the final day singles abomination:

Yes they are ugly, Someone call the fashion police please. This made for T.V.
golf event needs help in the club uniform department.

I actually think they might be better than last years, which is just a scary thought...
