IM GETTING FRUSTRATED!!!

i cant get out of the fifties on a nine hole qualifying for my highschool team. i put myself in perfect scoring position hit my irons fine on an occasional non windy day here in oklahoma. idk wut im doing. maybe i need better practicing habits any suggestions?!

I think most people are going to ask the same question. If you are driving it well, hit your irons well, whats the problem as you see it? It can't just be putting? Take a minute, think about what your real question is, what are you really struggling with, and ask specific questions. I will come back with my .02

Well maybe it's my short game I think I get nervous with shots 50 yrds and in today I had to hit punch shots with the 40 mph winds maybe I don't need to go to the range tommorow just the chipping and putting area

If you're chipping often, that leads me to think that you're missing the green. That makes me infer that you weren't getting very good contact with your irons or you judged your distances wrong. However, if it really is your pitching and chipping that's letting you down, just try to imagine the shot before hitting it. For chips, pick a landing spot and go with some short irons more often. For pitches, just pick out a landing spot, make some practice swings towards it and imagine the shot.

hey man, i hear ya. I shoot 3 over on average and the first couple rounds we took into the coaches i had 39 and a 40. We got to qualifiers and i blew the bucket with a 52. It was all nerves for me, playin with this kid i dont like and i didnt think positive. Chunked or topped my irons when i normally hit em beautiful, im doing some stuff now to improve my mental game. I know I can play well, i just didnt. Oh well, next qualifying round in a couple days just gotta do better.

When I played on the high school team, I used to listen to music between my shots. That brought up my concentration level and made me more focused. When your playing with people whom you don't really want to be there with it isn't very fun. You need to find your way of getting into the game! Rap or Heavy Metal wouldn't be advised! Pearl Jam or Pink Floyd seems to work well for me!

Ask your coach if this would be acceptable.

You arn't allowed, at least thats the rules in Kansas... (for tournament)

what you need to do is keep track of the following things and come back to us with the info
GIR (greens in reg)
Fairways hit
Putts

There's more you could do but start there, the problem will show itself after a few rounds.

I honestly don't get posts like this at all. It's not like we watch you play golf and document your shots for you. I would think it's pretty obvious where you lose strokes. Example, if I shoot 40 on the front because I doubled 1 and 6, because i hit tee balls OB off each tee, I would realize that working on keeping my drives in play would save strokes.
It definitely shouldn't be hard at all.

I would bet you are putting to much pressure on yourself. Just act like it is a normal round of golf. Remember that it is just a game! Just smile and have fun

If you normally score much better but in qualifying you're blowing up, that's one problem (mental / nerves). If 50+ is your normal score, that's different and hard to know a solution without more info. Sounds like short game.
