2010 NXT TOUR

Just a heads up that the new NXT Tour might be the longest ball I have ever hit. Can easily out drive the Older version and ProV1x by 15-20 yards. That being said, it might be the worse ball overall to play. Zero short game ability and the ball jumps off the putter face making it hard to judge your distance. Rock hard cover needs a cart path just to scratch it. Big thumbs down from me. Save your money!! These balls must have been made to compete on the long drive challange tour.

That is very disappointing. I LOVE last years (well, most recent model) of the NXT extreme. It is simply an absolute rocket for my swing. I was hoping the New tour would offer that plus, the short game control of the old Tour. I guess not.

Makes you wonder what the regular NXT is like since it is supposed to be longer with less control of than the tour.

For sure it is not reboxed ball. Does remind me of the NXT Extreme,, tons of roll after the ball lands.. Full iron shots above a 8 iron did not hold any green I hit and full wedge shots released on the green. Lot of fun to take down the par 5's in two but if you short side your self, add 2 strokes to your score on trying to get the ball up and down. Played a few holes back to back with the last years version of the NXT Tour and like the older version better, except for the brutal schredding of the cover.

It is baffling that apart from the V1s Titleist make some truly rubbish balls. It is as if they focus on the top end and make lower price balls as an afterthought. Never found an NXT worth playing.

Totally agree with this. And personally I don't think the Pro V is quite the category leader it used to be either. I think many people play it just "because it's a Pro V1" (including many high handicappers, which always makes me smile) when in fact there are equally good and more durable balls on the market now. To that end, Titleist are living off their name and that ball's reputation to some extent. Both Srixon and Bridgestone offer a far better overall range of balls and their mid-priced offerings blow Titleist's out of the water.

You're absolutely correct. I normally play the ProV1X but my course had the 2010 NXT Tour 2-ball packs on sale for $3.00 so a bought a couple packs. The distance was amazing. I've played golf all my life so I laugh at claims I hear of 10-20 yard increases but amazingly that was my finding. You are also correct about the complete lack of control around the greens. Were the NXT Tours you played the 2-ball pack ones? I'm wondering if Titleist had an accidental non-conforming batch and are selling these in 2-ball packs because these things are rockets. Nine irons and wedges would just hit the green and roll to the back fringe every time despite the trajectory. The shame is they have a nice feel off all the clubs. I went back to the ProV1X the next round.

There are quite a few other brands out there, at less then $30 that outperform the NXT Tour IMO.

Titleist TSi2 10* Driver Tensei Blue 55S
TM Sim2 Max 16.5* 3 wood Tensei Blue 60S

TM SIM2 Titanium 5 Wood Tensei Blue 65S

TM SIM2 MAx 4 Hybrid Ventus Stiff shaft
Ping G410 5-UW Alta Graphite Shafts
Vokey SM8 56* sand wedge, Vokey SM9 60* lob wedge
Black Lab Oil Can 350g custom grind by "Geo" putter

C&L 350 Milled Oil Can Putter (3 of them!)

As the consummate Titleist apologist, it pains me to argue that Titleist does not consistently make the best ball in golf anymore.

The Pro V1 has been matched by a variety of other tour-level balls, and a variety of offerings from Top Flite, Wilson, Srixon, and Bridgestone absolutely kill every non-tour Titleist golf ball.

TaylorMade 2017 M1 440 8.5° Driver == Project X HZRDUS Black 65 6.5
TaylorMade 2017 M2 Tour 15° FW == Project X HZRDUS Black 75 6.5
Titleist 816H2 19° Hybrid == Veylix Rome 988 S+
Miura 1957 Small Blade 4-PW Irons == TT Project X LZ 6.5
Titleist Vokey SM6 50°, 54°, 58° Custom Wedges == TT Project X LZ 6.5
Titleist Scotty Cameron "Cameron & Crown" M2 Putter
Nike RZN Tour Black Golf Balls

I completly agree. A few years ago I never thought it would be possible but their (Titleist) offerings just are not heads above the others anymore. Before the Pro V1's were the best in every category. Now many other balls are better in individual categories. Today we have a huge option of balls to fit our game. I never thought that I would not have a Titleist in the bag but I have 3 Pro V1's and 2 Pro V1x's and when they are gone I don't think they will be back for some time. I love the Nike ONE Tour's and the feel and durability of the Srixon Z-Stars. I think the ONE Tour spins more around and into the green than the Pro V's and the Z-Stars are softer feeling off all the clubs. So Titleist was the first to the top but now others have climbed the moutain and are making quality product. It is good for us but what would be nice is if others would follow Srixon and Taylormade in their aggressive pricing format.
