Callaway X Prototype Irons

I game a set and I must say they are some of the best blades I have ever struck. I threw in some TT tour concept shafts and have never been so happy with a set of irons, give em a shot you wont regret it

Personally I really enjoy mine but when it comes down to it...they are blades irons and can be difficult to hit. I would reccomend going to diablo forged its one of callaway's best irons they have made.

It all depends on your handicap. I mean if your a 10 or higher, you probably won't be very successful with the prototypes. And yes I do understand that there are 20s that can play blades, just sorta making an easy generalization, that will hopefully help the OP. During the mid summer I got down to a 3.9 handicap, but now I am between a 6 and 8. I heard the shafts that come in these prototypes are the Project X shafts, which I also heard were awesome.

I have them in 6.5 Project X shafts....LOVE THEM! I am a 6 or 7 right now and have no problem with them. They are very rewarding in terms of feel and actually have some forgiveness compared to some other blades I have played before. There is a left handed set on ebay right now. fyi

I have a general question, when they talk about the specs whats the difference in lie angle, like how is 1* flat differ from 1* upright and things of this nature

If you were to take your regular set-up position: 1* flat would move the club head a smiddgen away from your toes, and 1* upright would move it a smidge closer to your toes. To know what specs your irons should be at all they have to do is put impact tape on the sole of your club and have you hit a dozen iron shots on a swing board, making sure to take an imaginary divot. Then check the tape and determine if the sole is impacting toe heavy (then bend upright) or heel heavy (bend flatter) until the results show you're impacting squarely. Makes a huge difference.

ya dooo it!! i got them and they are pure sugar cane babbby. i had the x forged and i swing hard and when i caught one, they went. Not good when there is always ob long. got the X-Protos and they act like blades but are still really easy to hit.

I hit a set with KBS shafts in them. They were great. More forgiving than you would think. Solid through the ball. I'd recommend them.

Great clubs - they probably weren't worth the initial $1200 when they first came out but now the price of $700 is realistic and in line with other top manufacturers.

Try the Titleist MB's. AMAZING!

Got a set of protos for christmas and they are sweet. Very solid blades and they are very easy to work
