Do They Play and Feel Different?

I fully understand the reason why TM had to re-release the TP RED LDP in "tournament edition". What I would like to understand, but couldn't find via searches on this forum, was an explanation on whether or not the two versions of the balls play the same or are they different. In other words, do those that like the <TP/RED.LDP> also like the "tournament edition" for the same reasons?

I have one dozen of the TP RED without the "tournament edition" stamped on the box. I really like this ball. I would like to purchase more, but all I have access to are the "tournament edition" version in my area.

I can't tell any difference, great ball, too bad it is discontinued.

TP RED and TP RED Tournament Edition are the same ball. Taylormade had a boo boo in the factory and accidentally put the wrong covers on the TP Reds causing less than 1% of their balls to be non conforming so to clear up the confusion to the USGA PGA WHOEVER they started putting "tournament edition" on the boxes and I believe a dot in the text on the ball to let you know it is one of the "gauranteed" conforming balls.

Thats all, no different ball.

Although I hear they are going to make one with Zolex that should fly 400yds gauranteed.... :welcomeani:

Thanks for the replies.

I recently hit my driver using TrackMan. Long story short I was told that I should use a premium ball that was made for players that are considered "higher spin" players. I surmise that I need a ball that doesn't spin as much in the air..... hence, I figure that the TP/RED.LPD is a good fit.

I was given a sleeve of Nike One Tour D to try and it is a good fit for me too based on a round of golf, but it doesn't feel as soft at impact as the TP RED LDP, which I hit a long way too. I'll look for more LDP RED to compliment my use of B330S and One Tour D.

Not sure why TM got rid of the LDPs.... It seems like a perfect ball for someone like me with common ordinary specs....
