Chrome loss on Mizunos/DG Sl shafts?

Not sure where to post this but the DG SL shaft on my 1 month old mp60 8 iron has begun losing the chrome plating in several areas. I have had several sets of DG shafts but never seen this before. Is this a common problem?

I am assuming since they are so new that Mizuno will replace the shaft under warranty. What about the rest of the set? are shafts generally in the same "batch" and they will all suffer this fate eventually?

I bought these from an authorized dealer online. Are there any issues getting a return authorization from an online dealer? Does anyone have any experience on Mizuno's turnaround time? I'd hate to be with out my 8iron on my upcoming vacaction

The SL is a new shaft, made from an alloy. It's really too early to tell whether it will be a common problem with this particular alloy, but I've not heard of much at all in the way of chrome loss on the standard steel TT shafts. The biggest warranty issue I can recall for TT is the problem they have with the Sensicore shafts having moisture accumulate below the sensicore insert, which causes problems over time.

If you purchased it from an authorized dealer, you should be fine, but turnaround time might take a while.

You'd probably be better off, from a time and cost perspective, to wait until the season is close to over to have it done (if you live in an area that has a winter). Check with your retailer and place them on notice that you have a problem, then ask them how long the coverage runs. If you have a year from date of purchase, I'd wait until a month before that expires, then go ahead and check all of the clubs. It could take 4 to 6 weeks turnaround, but some OEMs just ship a new replacement rather than reshafting the old one.

the DG steel shaft of my Mizuno CompEZ 3 iron has flaking chrome. i chalk it up to usually laying that club down on wet, dirty range mats for alignment. looks terrible if you really look at it, but i don't notice it at address so i never did anything about it.
