anyone know of any good shaft combinations for this head? i have another head around and I want to get the most out of it. I've really liked the distance and feel of the head. I've tried the newer one and this was much better. It looks kind of poorly assembled, but I haven't had any problems yet.

True. I've hit the longest drives of my life with the 420cc HTi. This head is extremely workable in both directions. The face sits dead square. The control is excellent. I've also put the 300cc HTi into play in 8.5loft. Again, extremely long. The 420cc is the best though. I haven't hit the 440cc HTi and would really appreciate a detailed review comparing the 420cc to the 440cc if anyone can share. From what I have gathered from others the 440cc is very long, but not sure it actually rivals the 420cc design.

I would have to say that the Orilmar HipTi 420 is the deepest driver out! I have the tour version of the V2 (proto tour stiff meaning XX flex) in my 8.5* and it is a beast. I have literally added 25 yards to my old driver which was a cleveland comp 8.5 with a 757 tour spec speed x flex. Regradless of cost (it is dirt cheap) it is the best driver I have hit to date bar none. I recomend picking one up and putting a better shaft in it and you will gain yards!!

I've hit'em both, and while hot faced, I don't think the new hti is as long as the original. I think it's easier to control, but on length only, the original wins in my book.

I have four as backup's in my garage. Three 11.5 and two 10.5's. I love the driver and i have tried everything. I have also tried every shaft combo and right now the 11.5 with the Diamana Red is the one for me.I have never found one as long or forgiving.

I have the Aldila NV 55 in a 9.5 degree hipti. I don't think it is as long as some other things I have recently tried (Burner in particular) but it is impossible to miss.

Have a very good friend that uses these. He is convinced it's the best club ever. Never hit it, b/c I know whatever is in my bag is the best club ever, until I find something else to put in there.

I've bumped older ones. I'll never understand why people get upset about bumping old threads. The fact the bidding is that high is nuts.

I've seen the high COR version (which this one isn't) go for much more.

As it is, this is in unicorn territory - a new, unhit head. Still surprised by the bidding, but the winner will get an exceptional head that will more than hold its own against more modern heads - except in off centre hit performance.

The 420 is a different beast to the smaller cc models. I wouldn't search out the latter and the lot above is well overpriced. The FW woods are excellent though and can be had very cheaply.

One thing to be aware of with all the HipTis is that they are .370 hosels. So if you plan to reshaft with a .335 or .350, you need to be competent with shims or else use appropriate bushing ferrules.

The fairways (particularly the 14* - which I currently have two of LOL) are absolutely underrated. They were great 3 woods.
