Gamer V2 vs. Other 3-Piece Balls

Your Opinion?
I haven't tried the Gamer V2 yet. I'm not a big fan of Top Flight although I did like their D2 line of balls. I've used many 3 piece balls and have heard great reviews about the V2. Is there any ball you would play (only considering 3 piece) over the V2 giving consideration to quality, price and performance and disregarding brand loyalty?

I'm currently playing the Gamer and trying to decide if I want to keep playing it or go back to the Srixon Trispeed. These are my two favorite 3-piece balls and they are very different balls. The Trispeed is softer feeling off all clubs (it really is) , much longer off woods, hybrids and irons and is sidespin resistant for straighter ball flight. The Gamer's strength by comparison is its greenside spin and feel. Plus, the Gamer is cheaper, $10 a dozen cheaper. I tried the Srixon Trispeed Tour to get the extra spin but I didn't see that much difference between that ball and the Trispeed itself in terms of greenside control. What's a guy to do? For now, I carry both the Trispeed and Gamer in the bag.

I am in the exact same boat as Terpman (Maryland native?). I played TriSpeed all of last year and actually bought some Gamer V2's after reading about them on this board. I loved them so much that I bought four dozen at Dicks (they were having a two-fer sale). I have a relatively slow swing speed, and actually think the Gamer is longer than the TriSpeed.
I too still have some Srixon's in my bag, but think I am going to play the Gamer for the rest of this year. It is a very durable ball as well as the price.

For the price, there is absolutely nothing better. I actually liked the Gamer's first version, and the V2 is more durable. They are nothing like their "Rock-Flight" cousins. The closest thing in the TF line is the D2 Feel. Again, for a non-urethane ball, it's one of the better ones. I also like the Trispeed and some Bridgestones, but once you factor in cost, you're left with one very good option.

I don't always play surlyn, but when I do, I prefer the Gamer V2  .

I haven't played the V2, but recently got a couple doz. V1s to play against my new favorite cheap ball -- Precept IQ 180. They both seem to play similarly for me on full short irons to the greens, but the Precept was much softer and much more durable. I haven't played the AD333 or the new Titleist Solo, so I'd be interested in hearing others thoughts on those balls.

Haven't tried the v2 yet but the original Gamer was fairly comparable to most of the other mid-spin 3-piece surlyn balls.

Titleist NXT Tour
Callaway HX Bite
Top Flite Gamer v2
Srixon Trispeed Tour
Taylor Made Burner TP
Nike One Vapor Speed

I personally found the NXT Tour to be slightly longer off the tee than the rest and preferred the feel due to being a long time ProV1 user. In terms of greenside spin, all of these spin about the same and will run out more than a urethane ball.

I would definitely recommend a 3-piece ball to anyone over a 2-piece simply because of the increased ball velocity and slightly increased spin you gain from the added mantle layer.

After reading about the Gamer V2 on here, I bought 2 dozen from Amazon at £13.99 a dozen.

can only say I am gob-smacked!

First of all, it must be the best looking ball on the planet .. the hex dimples with a smaller dimple within looks superb.

Driver it is easily as good as my Bridgestone RX or Srixon Trispeed. With the irons i can only agree with others who state it is longer.. excellent.

It putts wonderfully well and chipping, although there is no real spin and stop like a 4 or 5 piece, it stopped quicker than the AD333 i compared it with today and that on out fast and hard summer greens.

All in all, this is now my Gamer, as their advertising suggests!
