How are you enjoying the fairways? I like the look of the new Cobra metals. Hit the LTD and it's a bomber.

I like them very much. Bought them and honestly didnt expect them to knock out the bio cell pluses I games previously. That being said, the 5w will probably get knocked out by the baffler. I just would like a bit more versatility with that slot.

Nice one Russ. As I've always said before. I really enjoy your thread, and poke my nose around the corner into it from time to time. Love the way you look after your gear too. Though in truth, I also wanted a 'get out' from the fractious thread about Muirfields membership voting. It's all getting a little nasty on there, and I'll be banned again if I don't find a thread a little more sedate and good natured!! Lol. seriously though, I love your WITBs', always interesting and very often informative and inspirational.

    And the Dis are in..

Despite drizzling, a wonky shoulder muscle, and of course the beloved range balls I just had the best driving range session of my life. Theres a 250 marker and was hitting it a good bit past that. Where this stuck out though I was literally going directly over the marker.. probably at an 75-80% clip. That is unheard of for me.

The 5 wood is very good where it is but thinking the baffler will pair REALLY good with this shaft. The 3w took a good minute to dial in. I lofted up to 15.5 from 14.5, moved the weight forward, back.. and finally got it dialed in... exactly where I started lol. I left this .5 longer as I use it mainly off the tee and had to grip down. Was really getting it out there, but the drizzle decided to turn to a downpour.

I have two rounds this week and if its anything like today, the rouges will be available and the hzrdus wont even get a legit shot.

As mentioned, third times the charm. Pretty sure the others were only stiff. I would never have tipped these as much, but Nessism hooked with up with some profiles and ya.. Winner winner

Nice bag! The new shafts look amazing. I've had the 6S and 7S AD-Di's, but never the X's. I have a set of AP2 716's with some i110's SSx1 and the shafts feel perfect. Just the right weight and stiffness. I bet they are sweet with the 745/945's.

Keep in mind, I was playing (and playing well) with rogue silver 60-s tipped 1" a 70-s tipped 1" and a black 80-s tipped 1.5". Otherwise I wouldn't have ever thought to tip them this much .

701s by far the easiest to hit, highest launching

701 tours by far the most demanding but not overly difficult. When you square a ball that feeling of compression...

Ztx won two closest to the pins.. Just didn't stay in the bag for whatever reason

Ztx 2.. Basically 745s daddy.. Complete with tungsten weights in the low irons

545 very good irons. High and long.. Can be played to single digits easily

745 perfect for decent ball strikers. More workable, equally long but not as high

945 the hidden gems. Not hard to hit all. Very good feedback on mishits,

If I had to play one set, it'd be the 745

Honestly I have no idea how they can improve on them.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm gaming the tours, and can definitely can feel it and see it if I don't hit the ball pure. I love the look at address, the feel, pretty much everything about them, just am intrigued by the ZTX, 745's, etc., but wanted to know if it was worth the switch or not.

For me, I'd wait till the 765 come out and knock down the 745s pricing. But if you can pick up a set for about $400, there def worth it.

How are the DI's fairing Russ? Maybe a bit too early to give a decent opinion? FWIW, you should try the Tour AD GP, is a fantastic shaft in my opinion. Maybe no tipping would be needed, but it still has a reasonably smooth feel by with some real 'zip' through transition and into impact for me. Slightly lower launch than the DI, hence the need for any tipping to be curtailed. But a lovely shaft. Works fabulously well in my M2 Driver.

If you ever get the chance, go try!

so one range session and one round with the dis. obviously the verdict is still out but I think they will remain in. The 6x is similar to the rogue silver I was playing but Im getting more carry. More importantly, I have never hit the center of the face so consistently. Currently the F6+ is in the penetrating slot and thing isnt the most forgiving position. The 3w and baffler were equally good on the range and performed equally well during the one round. I think once I get some more confidence, the baffler can be a game changer for me.

I need to spend a day just pounding balls with the woods.

    no more steel fibers???! blasphemy!!!!

my frankenset has 110 cws throughout and 125s in the wedges... though I am considering trying the regular flex

Ok LTD is out. I can absolutely see what all the love is for. Unfortunately the Pro version is just a little to low spin/launch for me. It is however forgiving. I would spring for the reg but when looking down, I had fond recollections of my original R9. For the first time, how a club looked at address genuinely effected my commitment to the shot. Now that said, its not horrible, it just doesnt suit my eye..

Which brings me back to the F6+. Next to the J33 420, I dont think there has been a better looking head at address. For whatever reason, I wanna smile when I look down on it. Unfortunately, the F6+ had a accident:

If you haven't seen it upclose, the F6 weight is not solid. The orange is a covering with something underneath to give it its mass. That something looks like:

I already emailed Cobra and will likely have to have it sent back, which SUCKS because I already had to send it back once for the weight rail itself. I wish I could chalk it up to my beefcakeness.. but I can assure you its not the case

Worse still, stupid me took the Rogues along and wouldnt you know it, I was hitting them better than the Di. Especially in the driver and baffler. Even with the weight forward, the DI wanted to run up where the rogue wanted to go...

Im not ready to dump the Dis just yet.. but the rogues are coming with me to Rhode Island.

    such a fickle game..
