Balls I should be trying ?

Looking for input
Hi,

I'm looking for input on what other balls I should be trying from you guys. I'd like to keep the spin around the greens and maximize my distance off the tee (like everyone else).

Right now I'm gaming mostly the Srixon Z-Star. I like the overall performance of it, and I'm use to the spin it generates around the greens.

I also bought a dozen of TM Penta a couple of weeks ago. I like them as well, I think they spin a little more than the Z-Star and might be a little too much for my taste.

Finally, I also bought a dozen of Nike Tour D. Didn't play much with them, but first impression was that they were a little too hard and didn't spin enough for my liking.

Last info, my swing speed on my driver is around 103-105 mph and my ball speed is 150 mph.

Thanks in advance for you inputs.

Going to be hard to beat the Zstars. You could try the Zstar-X, ProV1 and V1X or course, Cally Tour i(s), Bridgstone B330 might be a good bet; little less spin than a Zstar and a little more than a Nike Tour D (played all three this season).

Driver- Cally Mavrik SZ 9*, Fujikura Ventus Black, S
3wd- Cally Flash SZ, UST ATTAS Elements, S
Hybrids- Cally Flash 18* & Apex Pro 24* Matrix HM3 95 Black Tie, S
Irons- TM 790 4-6,  TM 760 6-PW,  Steelfiber i95, S
GW- TM  770, Modus 105 S
SW/LW- Cally MD3, Modus 105 S
Putter- Cameron Futura

A cheaper solution would be the TM Black TP LDP. On closeout for as low as $19. These and the Red were the predecessor to the Penta and I'll play both the Black and Red until they run out at the prices I see them at. For me the Black play more like the ProV1/Z Star and the Red like the X version of both. Based on feel the Black are not as mushy as the ZStar, carry a bit longer, spin a bit less, but are more durable and play better in the wind -- two factors that matter to me.

Haiku as a sig?
They may be overrated
But I'm rocking one!

2nd the Wilson FG Tour. At least try it out with an open mind. I find it as long as the ProV1x, slightly less spin which is good because I hate spinning off a small green and its better off my old Answer putter. All subjective, I know.

IMO the TM TP Black is overrated. Its a good ball at $20 which I have never seen it at. At $29, which our wally world has them at, its no better than the Cally HX Hot ($17.50 & TGW), Gamer V.2, Wilson Zip or C:25, and Bridgestone e series.

Now the TM TP Red is a completely different story. They should have kept that ball as a 2nd tier bellow the Penta as the Burner TP doesn't cut it. I would buy top quality ones from lostgolfballs they are that good.

Ah yes, the ball that does it all search continues.

As you found out, some 'tour' balls spin too much around the greens, like why I quit Pro V1 years ago.

Most all the tour balls with a consistent strike are likely within a couple of yards of each other. What matters most is feel and short game control, as that's where you score.

Never got into Srix that much, shoudl try some ZStars I guess. Might try the Nike TOur, as I gind the D kind of hard, as I did the black. Replaced the One Platinum except not supposed to require 115 swing speed to get to work. I stocked up on TP Red @ $20 a dozen, before that was Cally Tour iX, haven't tried the iS or Z, but will. Also try the Bridgestone 330S, nto that RX, loved the 3 piece from like 2007/2008, the new ones are pretty nice as well.

Keep in mind the short game, as if can control the ball, doesn't matter if hit 8 or 9 into green when you hit it.
