Has anyone reshafted a FT-3 yet?

8.5 Tour with NV65 stiff
The current NV65 stiff is too weak and launches too high for me. I am currently looking to reshaft it with a stiffer and lower launch shaft, I am thinking a Grafalloy Blue? I have it on my PT13 and I like how it feels, or perhaps someone can recommend me something else relatively inexpensive. (I am just a poor college student :bigcry:)

To my understanding bore thru club heads make the shaft play stiffer. Now the FT-3 isn't a bore through but from some of the pictures of the club that I saw on Callawaygolf.com it seems like the shaft still goes through pretty deep into the club head, will that also make the shaft play stiffer? Anyone have any experience reshafting a FT-3?

Also I've noticed that Graffaloy shafts are stiffer relative to other brand's shafts in a same flex, is the Blue Stiff stiffer than a NV Stiff?

Try Fujikura Vista Tour 70 or GD GAT 75 or graffaloy NT.

Yes, They will still play stiffer. They only bring up the hosel bottom around 3/8" from the sole. Reshafting a composite head is always tricky. Applying to much heat will cause damage to the seam and weaken up the composite construction. Leave it to a real Good clubmaker who knows what they are doing. Hot Rod techinique is the only way to pull the shaft safely.

Graffaloy construction and weaving technique is making the tip "stiff tip" design to lower the spin rate and bring up the kick point, thus it will feel boardy. NV should feel not as boardy.

Good luck!

Thank you for the response, very helpful. :idhitit:

What is the Hot Rod technique? I've read people saying that cut and drill is the way to go when reshafting the FT-3.

It's heated 48" steel rod that I use to stick inside the shaft to brake the epoxy. This technique allow me to safe the ferrule at 50% rate ( conservatively ) and 99% on the head without any damage at all.

I believe the FT-3 hosel has a .350 diameter, and the Fujikura Vista Tours are .335

will shimming a .335 shaft into a.350 hosel effect the playability of the shaft in anyway?

Nope ! San Francisco area.

If you shim it properly, it shouldn't be a problem.

It's all depending how proper the clubmaker work on it.

Did not do it myself...but I reshafted my FT3 N 8.5* with a ZCOM TW74 and it is a rocket launcher......huge diff between it and the stock NVS 65.....HUGE.

I bet you that you gain a huge rolls w/ pretty much the same trajectory, Right?

Yes....how did you know Joe?....Just Kidding.

Great setup for my swing. I had the installer leave the shaft at 46'' just to tinker...I am finally getting it dialed in. Just a great combo in my humble opinion.

That thread didn't answer any of my questions. :vava:

You really should just cut the shaft off & drill out the hosel

Composite heads don't like heat at all.

The nvs shaft is designed to give higher launch & plays much softer than the nv (green)

is it the blue or blue prolaunch you are thinking of ??

pro launch is high launch again.

You guys need to post your club speed etc as Joe mentioned

its impossible to give good advice without the basic info about your swing speed tempo etc.
