I just got my second G15. The first was a 9 degree with TFC 149D stiff. The second is a 10.5 with a Serrano in stiff. I actually feel that the TFC has a heavy, dead feel and I did not like the flight either. The Serrano has a more lively feel and for me it was a much better fit. My numbers with the 10.5 Serrano were 98 mph, 14.2 degrees, 3200 rpm and 235 carry with total distance of 245-250. The club is clean looking, sits square and inspires confidence at address. Great driver!

I have hit them all and the G15 is a great driver! I have the 9* with a stiff Serrano shaft and it's a low spin fairway finder. At address this club looks great and the ball likes to go straight, unlike some of the other drivers I've demoed lately. I never thought I would ever switch from Taylor Made drivers, but Ping has a real winner here.

I have the R5, R7Superquad, R7 460&425, R9, and the Superfast(too long for me @46"),tried the Super-tri for two days. The Super-tri is long if it is hit dead center, I missed the sweet spot(not by much...towards the toe some) a couple times and got a big sweeping hook everytime. It's all in what you like but from my own personal experience, the G15 is better than all TM drivers that I own or have demoed. The Serrano shaft is lively and gives me a nice penetrating ball flight. I also like the square face on the G15. Good luck which ever driver you choose!

Went from the Serrano to an 'ahina and couldn't be happier! Long and straight.

Sparkyfriz,
What changed when you went to the new shaft versus the Serrano? I'm swinging the Serrano Regular (and get decent numbers, spin, etc. on the monitor) but not sure I'm seeing consistency I'd like on the course and range.

I like my G15 Serrano combo but I'm streaky with it. The forgiveness is there, as advertised, on off center contact. The long shaft (45.75) may contribute to streakiness and the occasional huge push fade that goes straight OB.

G15 launched too high for me. Played a 9 and felt more like a 10.5. Switched to a g10 7.5 in a diamana blueboard just because the 7.5 G15 head is way above my price range. The g10 feels just as good and I think spins less. G15 overall is the most forgiving players driver on the market. I hear alot of people say that it looks closed, but I never had a problem with it. I think the g10 and g15 are both neutral.

i have the same problem with g15 9 degree with the serrano. The ball just goes too high so i am in the process of trying to find a new shaft. i hope this lowers the flight and gives it a more penetrating flight. I believe i lose distance because of the height.

[/quote]Have you seen a fitter?

I ask because I went to a fitter the other day and I had MY 9.5 Cally driver, and a friend's 10.5 R9 driver (which I've been hitting great). Those drivers gave me what I thought was a boring, penetrating flight, and I thought the Ping G15 12º was going WAY too high.

The launch monitor kept giving me better carry and carry + roll with the high shot. Guy said, "most amateurs really benefit from that higher ball flight." If you're getting a high flight without much backspin, as compared to high flight due to lots of backspin, it might be what you're looking for.

I also hit the G15 with 10.5 but the 12 was giving better numbers. I ordered one.

That was with the stock shaft.

But, to each their own. That shaft in my Cally (Aldila Habanero) is supposed to be sweet, but it was terrible for my swing.

The stock serrano shaft is a high launch shaft. If you were getting a launch that was too high i would look into getting a lower launching shaft like the whiteboard or RIP alpha. I have a 70x alpha in my G15 and love the ball flight. In regards to the face being closed I think im going to have to agree with that. I have been hitting quite a few draws lately and on bad swings they look like duck hooks. I wish i would have ordered through the wrx department to get a face that was open a degree or two

Just had my first 18 with the G15 9*/ Matrix HD6 strong flex. I am coming from an FT Tour and I can tell you it is FAR more forgiving. Not near as long, but when you are hitting fairways, 6yds is more than OK to give up. The feel is good and very responsive. I was impressed and it will for sure have a few more rounds in it!

This club is sick. Upgraded from a G5 and after some time getting used to the slightly closed face, this thing just goes. High, straight, and long. Maybe a little too high, but if that helps me keep it in the fairway, so be it. One place this club excels particularly well at are shots off the toe. I normally hit it about 275 with this - popped one way off the toe in a tourney yesterday and it started slightly to the right but drew in nicely and still went about 270. I've never hit a club that's so forgiving off the toe. Hitting it thin does give quite a large amount of distance leak though.

I personally have tried a lot of drivers over the last couple years- for whatever reason, the G15 is the best mix of forgiveness and distance that I've found. I installed a Diamana Kai'li 60x5ct in a 10.5 head, and a Bassara 53x5ct in a 9 head. There are many great drivers and choices out there, but my favorite right now is the Ping G15.
