Ping Karsten 1959

Love this putter...give it a 5

I bought the Karsten 1959 Anser2 model after comparison with the Ping Redwood Anser & Ping Scottsdale Anser2 ....the rational behind my decision follows:

1) FEEL... the Karsten Anser2 gave a firm feel while the Scottsdale Anser2 gave a soft feel.... the Redwood Anser was in-between the other two ...both the Redwood & Scottsdale weigh 340g ...while the Karsten weighs 350g... and the weight difference was noticeable; I like the slightly heavier putter but that's a personal preference

2) SOUND... both the Karsten Anser2 & Redwood Anser give the famous "Ping" sound & frankly better user-feedback than the Scottsdale based on attributes 1 & 2

3) MATERIAL... the Redwood has a milled-stainless & I checked out the black-nickel finish...beautiful! the Scottsdale is dark colored & has a elasatomer insert in the face... also looks good & I really liked the contrast between the color & the white ball.... and finally the Karsten has a stainless steel face in a traditional Ping satin finish.... I didn't exprerience any glare problems with any of the three putters

4) GRIP... no noticeable difference in the stock grip of all three putter models... IMHO nearly every golfer will be happy with the grips.... but I've always used the Ping PP58 grip ("Pingman") & will change to this grip soon

5) LOOK... I prefer the look of the Anser2 model so I ruled out the Redwood because it doesn't offer the Anser2.... all three were easy to align & visually appealling at address...

6) PRICE... per TGW.COM ...Karsten = $99 ......Scottsdale = $129 .....and Redwood = $249

I prefer the firm, heavier feel of the Karsten over the Scottsdale...and ruled out the Redwood because it doesn't offer the Anser2 model & partially due to price

The best "Bang for your Buck" putter out there. No matter what I try, I keep coming back to my 1959 Anser 2. This putter just screams CLASSIC all the way around! Perfect headshape, headweight, finish, & feel..
