New Nike Ball

Looks awesome! Can't wait

Ya one of my buddies said that this ball will be the "real" deal this year! Paremieter weighted ball....and long. He used to be a tour player and he is a very reliable source!

cant wait to get a few and test them out

Never been a huge Nike ball fan, but these looks interesting! Will definitely pick up a few sleeves!

I am not a big Nike fan either but I got a chance to play the prototype. It is the real deal look forward to getting a dozen so I can give it a good test I was only able to play a couple holes with the prototype

Yup - thats the same ball. The new 20xi has a resin core to create the perimeter weighting and that's why it had that prototype rzn name.

The initial ball will be out in February I believe. The first ball will be similar to the One Tour with a later version coming out that will be stiffer like the Tour D.

Both models will be available on 4/29/11. They are legit and will start a material revolution.

Will TW play this ball?

so how does perimeter weighting a golf ball do? make it go straighter?? farther? all the above?

The proprietary resin core may be "revolutionary" however Callaway has been pimping the concept of perimeter weighted golf balls for years now. Either way I look forward to trying these out. They better be good since the 2011 versions of the V1x, B330(s), and Penta Five are three of the best balls I've tried.

I played the prototype RZN for a few rounds and liked it, but found its durability to be a serious question.

The lighter core increases the ball's moment of inertia. This both makes the ball harder to get spinning but also harder to [i]stop[/i] spinning. That is, it's more resistant to changes in its state. So, for drives it should result in lower spin meaning a straighter and hopefully longer shot. However, for iron/wedge play the ball should maintain its spin better than a conventional ball, which is supposed to give more bite on approach shots. I think it's quite a nifty idea and it sounds like it'll have tangible performance benefits. Titleist watch out!

I think more than one "proto rzn" was released. I got two sleeves of the ball and haven't had any issue with durability. I can shred a golf ball, and the "rzn" has held up better than most.

If it's even a slight improvement on the Tour D... you can count me in.

Sure seems my yearly "golf ball demo day" is going to be quite the shootout!

2 versions of the ball, 20XI-S will replace with the one tour and the 20XI-D will replace the one tour d.

I agree %1000. The shelf appeal is absolutely horrible. It looks like a bargain ball you would find at costco.. I love NIKE products and will play this ball but I am not impressed with the packaging!

Nothing beats the One boxes. They are damn sexy. I am sad they are gonna stop the One family.

My first thought as well. The packaging is terrible for a premium ball. They had the right idea with the One packaging.

The difference between this ball and the competitors, according to Nike, is that with the new core material used there is not as much waste material within the core. The core of the new balls is lighter than any other core ever made. This allows for the redistribution of weight which improves spin characteristics as stated above.

Held the core in hand a few days ago and it is indeed much lighter than most. Very excited to get a few dozen soon.

I understand why they're losing the cube shape, but they look like a Maxfli bargain box.


The cube needed 2 boxes on each shelf vs just one rectangle box.
