I do. There isn't anything that I don't like about it or it wouldn't be in the bag. I have tried to change it out with some of the other "roll groove" putters but it always comes back. I only choose putters to try that have the Anser / Newport 2 shape which limits my choices somewhat. I think what I like most is how hard the finish is. I find the feedback with the hard finish easier to "understand" than the softer putters.

I have a PP midslant that I use a couple times a year. It isn't my every day gamer but still a great feeling putter. It is a little light but because of the plating, it is fairly durable. I can't really say there is anything wrong with them....just personal preference as to what you like and what works for you.

Just wanted to point out that there are actually two versions of the authentic Cameron Pro Platinum finish. The original is darker and a little more "matte" than the current one.

Here are some photos of my first generation 33/350 Mil-Spec and a second generation one where you can observe the distinct difference:

I currently own and have had a few more PP Camerons and don't have any negatives to say. Positives are...

1) softer feel of underlying carbon steel (almost imperceptibly "clickier" than non-plated carbon)

2) no glare since the finish is matte and not polished

3) virtually maintenance free but will rust if moisture is left to sit

I have three pro platinums.

- SC Newport Mil Spec 34" 340g
- SC Laguna Mid Slant
- SC Catalina (sent to the custom shop)

The feel is clicky, but only on an off center hit. Otherwise the soft carbon is all you can feel.
The maintenance is pretty much worry free.

I have or have had several TeI3's restored in Pro Platinum. The combo of the plating and the insert mutes the sound of the face hitting the ball. It still feels soft, but the PP finish is nicer when it comes to gaming it hard.

The Mil Spec is one of the best SC offerings ever IMO... in those pics you can also see slightly more offset in the first gen vs. the second gen. Both sweet putters regardless. Anyone got a 340 or 350 gram one they want to sell me for a good price? :D

I have a PP DM 3.5 and can echo what's already been posted... it is "clicky" but not in a bad way. You get good feedback, but yet it feels pure, if that makes any sense whatsoever. Love that it is essentially maintenance free too.

Here's mine after 10 years of ownership and gaming (maybe 40-50 rounds or so).

I'm not sure you'll find too many cons. I currently game a PP Midslant Newport. Tried alot of other putters but this one keeps coming back. I also have a Mil-Spec 340G that is at the shop now being refinished back to original. Overall great feeling putter that lets you put a very consistant roll on the ball.

I have a Newport 2 Pro Platinum that has been in the bag since the summer of 1999. I like the look, the "clicky" feel, the fact that the finish is virtually maintenance free, and most of all that it makes putts.

As far as gamers go...Pro Platinum is tough to beat for me. I love the slightly clicky sound, yet soft feel. I either game, own..or have owned:

Newport Original in PP (Made for the tour)
Circle T Newport Oval Track in PP
Circa III Tour in PP
DelMar 3.5 in PP
009 in PP
Circa III asian spec (350g) refinished in PP

I gave up a few of these, like the 009 and asian spec Circa because they returned a 'ting' at impact..almost a ping like sound...which I didn't care for. The soft clicky sound is more appealing to me.

I have a Laguna PP (gamer) and a Newport Mil-Spec PP 350g. Just remember most of the PPs are pretty light relative to the trend in putters these days. IIRC, the only PP Newport you can get in 340g or 350g is the Mil-Spec, and that most Newport PPs were around 320g or 330g.

It's a great finish, a bit harder than bare carbon but still softer than most stainless steels. I like the plated finish over carbon because 1.) It requires much less maintenance, and 2.) Most of the smaller unavoidable dings you will get if you game it will be on the plating, not the actual metal of the putterhead.

I just wish it was a bit darker. It would be awesome if they would let us have the Charcoal Mist finish on PP putters as a Custom Shop option, but they won't do it. I think other refinishing services offer their own version of the Pro Platinum, but I've never compared them; they probably feel very similar.

Does any manufacturer even offer a plated carbon putter at retail anymore?

I picked up a PP newport mil-spec from the used bin at a local shop last season. It was in very rough shape, but it was a great putter and gamed it all summer even though it was all dinged up. I tried several times to knock it out of the bag, but keep going back to the PP. It is currently at the custom shop for restoration. For the $65 price it was one of my better purchases.

I've got a 35/350 Mil-Spec that I gamed for about a year. Its a great putter. I really loved the feel. It felt softer than my new Studio Select. It was difficult to part with, but it is my number one back up if the SS ever needs timeout.

I want that first gen Mil-Spec!!! Looks awesome

In addition to my Newport PP Mid Slant, and my Studio Design 3.5 (PP from the custom shop) I had them refinish my original non-elastomer TEI3 but very quickly it started rusting between the insert and the head. I sent it back to restore it to the original finish.

Great finish on a carbon steel putter though.

I have a Del Mar 3.5 PP, cut to 34" with about 12 grams of lead tape

I absolutely love it, with a Pro V1x it gives an almost "soft click," incredible feel IMO

Hello,

I'm new to golf WRX and I just bought a Newport Mil-Spec (gen 2?) on ebay. Is it me or the heel on the gen 1 mil-spec looks rounder? Also Please up load photos if you have more of the Newport mil-spec. I want to see if I mine is a fake. Thanks.

The studio stainless has a "clickier" (firmer) feel than the Pro Platinum. The carbon steel under that finish is as soft feeling as can be.
