I played a few weeks back with a friend that had the 2 ball Backstryke. He had his clubs stolen last summer while out of town so he had to build a new bag. He pulled the putter out on the first hole and I couldn't help but notice how ugly it was. He then rolled his putt and I noticed something I have never seen before. The ball was so tight to the ground that it stood out as strange. My friend is a great player but that still didn't explain what I watched. He handed me the putter and I rolled my ball...it was amazing. Point and shoot, great feel, smooth, and perfect distance. I played the rest of my round with his putter and couldn't stop thinking about how great it was that night. The next morning I rushed to the store and purchased a Marxman Backstryke. I practiced with it that afternoon and had the same results as the course. I even played a money game on the practice green with some friends and won. I walked over to the past club champ and told him to try it as I wasn't sure it it was just me. I received a call the next day from him wanting to know where I purchased the putter because he was going to buy one as well. The secret to the putter is the roll. It rolls tight to the ground due to the forward press of the shaft. The ball rolling end over end give it a great deal of distance control and accuracy. The feel is great for me. It could be a little soft off the face for some but I'm sure people won't mind when the ball starts falling in the hole. The weather took a turn for the worse so I wasn't able to play for the last week. When I went back to the course I found the putter to be as good if not better then the first couple of days. Just so everyone knows, I'm a traditionalist when it comes to putters. Scotty NP2 and Rife Aussie have been the weapons of choice. It was a big stretch for me to even put this putter in my hands. I now think this is the most beautiful club I have ever had in my hands (only because I make a lot of putts, it is still ugly)!!!

It's a solid putter and certainly not a gimmick. I have the 2-ball version and what i really like is the way the putter lines up and how the shaft and hosel aren't in the line of sight at all. Many other putters on the market are a distraction for me but with the backstryke, when you look down the shaft all you see if the ball, and a bit of the leading edge. Solid. The feel is firm, which is what i wanted vs. the traditional urethane inserts on the market today. The one element that wasn't to my liking but fixable was the swingweight. With the stock shaft it register E9! Crazy heavy. I had a terrible time with distance control on putts over 20 feet (I know, I know, I should hit it closer and problem solved). So, I made the call to get a 115g Tiger Shark jumbo grip put on, which i have on a blade putter and have liked for a few years, and got the swing weight to E4. Much, much better. The bigger grip takes the hit out which helps with distance control, and the lighter swingweight helps as well. That was a game changing move...literally.

give this model a go. I think you'll like it. from a few feet in, it's nearly automatic, and, perhaps most importantly, don't fight the stroke balanced weighting. Let it happen and you're good to go.

I have the Backstryke Dart and absolutely love it. I played my first round with it last night and I shot by best round ever (46). The design of the putter forces you to roll it straight and even on long putts I am able to lag it very close to the cup with ease. It will definitely take some getting used too but it is a fantastic putter.

did you find the DART sits well on real grass? I love my backstryke marxman....tried the DART in the store.... but didn't like the way it sits....didn't lay flat for me.

I have the blade and love it! I've read posts that state it's old technology and it's like the T-Balance. (Tour Edge) I own and played the T-Balance. The shaft does come out of the back of the head, but it runs up parallel to to the face on the T-Balance. On the Backstryke, the shaft gets vertical well before the face. This promotes the forward press and also lets you see the sight line. Oh, did I forget to mention the incredible roll it gives you? If you play a forward press, or are thinking of trying a forward press, give this putter a test run!

I played the marxman for a little. Just couldn't seem to get the hang of the forward press. Also, I'm not a huge fan of insert putters, so it just wasn't for me. Putting is such an individual preference though, so if it's working, stick with it!
