Wilson C:25 versus Pro V1

Pro V performance at half the price
Has anyone tried the Wilson C:25 ball? I have been doing some testing on the launch monitor, and to say the least, have been very impressed. Everyone picked up ball speed from 6 to 11 mph, and lowered spin rates between 700 - 1500 rpms. I have tested swing speeds between 80 to 110, and everyone has picked up between 9 to 22 yards of carry. Now, there are alot of balls that will give you that performance off the driver, but you loose spin and control with the irons. Here is what amazazed me about the Wilson C:25 ball, it had the same spin rates as the Pro V off the 7 iron and the wedge, yet ball speeds were all 1 to 4mph faster and carry distance improved anywhere from 3 to 7 yards off the 7 iron, and 2 to 5 yards off the wedge. Just want to see if anyone has seen similar results to this.

The WS C25 & D25 are basically the same balls as the ZIP and FIFTY's. Both these balls have a large followling. I'm a 6 handicapper and I play the WStaff's during the cold winter months.
The WS ball will launch with a much higher trajectory than a ProV.... off of any club. This is primarily due to it being a low compression ball. I have also found the ZIp to travel farther that almost any other ball I have used... especially off of Irons and Hybrids. Additionally, not many balls feel better coming off a club than a well struck Zip.

The WS C:25 is the next generation of the WS Zip. I've played the Zip pretty well exclusively for two full seasons now. I'm high handicap player and even I notice the difference around the green. The ball checks up much sooner on pitches and chips than two piece balls and better than any of the other mid priced three piece balls I've tried. The ball puts like a dream too. For me, it gives distance ball length with my woods and Pro V1 type control and feel with the scoring clubs all for the price of a two piece ball.

My problem is LOFT -- Lack of friggin' talent

The C:25 is a great ball i've been playing it for 8 or 9 months and just recently switched to the FG Tour ball full time. I would say that the FG Tour compares to and for some is better than the pro v 1 but not the C:25. The C:25 is a surlyn type covered ball and, no surlyn ball can compare to a urethane ball for chips and pitches. I do luv the C:25 though it was just time for me to move to a urethane ball. BTW i dont think the C:25 is the next generation of the zip, it is a 3-piece and the zip is a 2-piece the C:25 has a much higher compression and they just are not in any way alike, plus the zip is represented on the W/S website like its still being made.

The ZIP was actually a 3-piece. The C:25 replaced the Zip and the D:25 replaced the Fifty.

Yes the zip is a 3-piece (i was doing 3 things at once while i was typing ) but, its compression is so much lower than the C:25 that its nowhere near the same ball. The 50 Elite is still being made and i think the zip is too so, how can they both be replaced if W/S is still making them?

Previous post is inaccurate...

The Three piece Zip's compression is 68, the 2 piece Fifty's compression is 75.
The Three piece C25's compression is 85, the 2 Piece D25's compression is 66.

The C25 has a bit more Driver spin than does the Zip.

As for both the 'replacement' question... just because Zip's and Fifty's are still on the shelves doesn't mean they are still be manufactured. Supply houses and distribution centers had tens of thousands of these balls stocked. Thus the reason both the Zip and Fifty's price has dropped such in the past 5 months.

Ok gotcha that make more since so, the C:25 and D:25 replaced the line but are not actual upgrades of each ball. Would that be correct?

Have played the C25s and like them very much. I also have a 6 sleeves of 50 elites which are also excellent.

Also played the FG Tour this summmer. I think its a great ball for the price. I think Wilson balls have developped a following and rightly so. All models are very good and again at a good price.

Cheers!

D.
