Looking for expert to adjust loft & lie of Ping Eye 2+ BeCu Irons to manufactured color code.

There is always a risk to bend this iron. If you are willing to take the risk, most of the time this iron is bendable up to 2* in any direction.

But again, If there are a slight defective spot on the metal by the hosel, it will snap and brake the club.

The safest way is to heat them up before bending. However, you have to pull the shaft out first and put them back again after.

Don't risk it you can't get replacements.

sell them & find some that are set to the correct lie already

why did Joe suggest removing the shafts ??

The best bet is to put them in the cupboard & buy some G2'2 or I5's

Because I respect what people have, Plus that iron is consider a collectors item now.

I don't know what is the reason he want to keep it and bend his iron ( maybe he like it so much for his playing and collection set), but I'm not gonna suggest him to buy a new iron. I'm just giving him the best solution for that particular iron he asked.

Maybe he can buy the whole company if he want to, who knows! But i do respect what he got first.

Now the technical reason : When you heat it up to be able to bend that iron safely, you'll burn the epoxy anyway...might as well not to take a chance to discolor the shaft chrome and reglue it safely. Get it?

The shaft offers support to the hosel when bending the hosel can become out of round if bent without the shaft.

Be Cu becomes more & more brittle the more you heat & cool it.

The older the irons are the more brittle they become also.

"Get It" is not very polite Joe.

I have worked with Ping clubs for 7 years

I know a little about them.

I worked for Ping for 3 years & can't remember hoe many clubs I have

adjusted it would be in the thousands. If you are heating club heads to the point that the shaft discolours you should get a better torch Or a hotter airgun.

If my experience is not of interest to your members I would be surprised.

Despite 14 years under my belt working on the club and a charter sponsor of a few forums, I would like to say sorry if you feel that i'm a little out of line from my explanation why he has to pull the shaft out.

I, my self felt a bit disturb from your last post that lead me into "get it" words.

We are all here trying to help members out and keep the respect level on a high level.

For your information, I use a MAP gas for my torch which well known to leave very little burn mark but yet produce high heat very quickly. I can manipulate this torch to set my 24 epoxy full strenght in 20-30 minutes if i have to. Plus any metal will get soften up at a certain temperature, this way you can bend it without risk of braking. the draw back is that the metal will change color and can be refinish by media tumbler.

Again I respect and thank you for your HELP in this forums, i hope you do the same for others.

Thanks and again sorry!

joe

1. We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp,

some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird

names, and all are different colors, but they all

have to live in the same box.

2. Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case

you have to eat them.
