Looking for a new ball in 2011...

Help
I'm currently playing the Callaway tour ix and absolutely love this golf ball. I have about 8 dozen left but i'm wanting to switch to something new that I can buy at the store and stock up on.

I love the ix for its long distance off the driver and it gives me just the right amount of spin around the greens.

Any suggestions for a replacement? I'm leaning towards the Pro V1x or the Wilson FG Tour. Also, I have heard the Srixon Z-star x is very long.

My top priority is LONG distance with the driver and i want a urethane covered ball with good spin on the greens. But I want something longer or as long as my current ball.

Thanks

If you have a GG near you go get fit for a ball.

For $20 you get a list of balls that are fit for your game depending on your distance and spin preferences.

My top 5 were something like:
Callaway Tour i(z)
Srizon Z Star
TaylorMade Penta
Callaway Tour i(x)

I was opting for more control vs distance.

do you happen to remember what ball was the longest?

It was either the Z star X or Pro V1x. It all varies on swing speed though. I was averaging 108 that day.

Frustrating... I get different answers from lots of sources - but those 3 balls are always rated the top 3 for distance. I did a Poll a few weeks ago on golfwrx and the Pro V1x won out as the "longest tour ball." The tour iz finished second followed the Z-star X in 3rd.

But, according to Srixon's own study the Z-star x is the longest ball followed by the Tour iz, and then the Pro V1x. According to Golfballselector.com - the Tour iz is the longest, followed by the Srixon Z-star x, and then the Pro V1x.

My swing speed is around 110-112 MPH (164 MPH ball speed), with spin around 3,300 RPM's.... steep angle of attack - launch the driver about 14.5 degrees with an 8.5 degree driver.

Any more suggestions on what urethane covered ball will give me the longest distance?

Most of the "x" style balls are going to be very close in terms of distance. Keep in mind that the USGA has limits on ball velocity so no one ball is going to be significantly longer than the rest.

The ix is the lowest spinning urethane ball off the tee so I doubt you will see much if any gain in distance. I will give you the best advice you will find here....buy a sleeve of each and compare them for yourself.
