I've owned a couple, mostly the blacks but also stainless. For spin they are perhaps the best I have played to date but for feel I like Tour Vokeys in that regard. I don't know, softer steel, better forging or what but I played the Y cutters most of last season and have the Vokey's back in the bag for now. FYI I also play in pretty soft and wet conditions now so am not needing the Xtra spin the Y's produce. When in Scottsdale a month ago I brought a 58° ss Y cutter for the firmer greens. Just my .02.

Are they as good as people say they are?

1689[/snapback]

I think the 588 tg spins more around the green and from 40 to 100 yards the y cutter might spin a touch more. Ill take the 588 any day of the week over the y cutter. It is a better feeling wedge and has a better grind. If the y cutter spins 2 or 3 more inches back from 70 yards that is neglible compared to the other advantages of the 588.

I like the y cutters only because they don't chew up balls like most tour wedges do. Cleveland tg's are my second choice.

spin milled Vokeys are ball eaters...

I guess Titleist designed it that way so you can spend more money on pro-v's hehehe

As for the spin, IMHO, the y cutters are pretty good on hard greens but its really the shots you play that makes them spin/not spin.

 Y Cutters...see my Best and Worse tour purchase! :( IMHO the Vokey Tc's and Protos fit my eye and work much better. As for the Y's not chewing up balls....if I can get them to stick where I want them to, a scuffed ball is the least of my worries.

I'd love to try these, but at the rate that I burn through wedges (ho'd, not wore out) I'd hate to drop that kind of dough only to put it on ebay in two weeks.

Anyone know if TM plans to release y's retail?

I've tried all the other tour wedges that TM had out there and didn't seem to have any luck no matter what shaft I used...This year I picked up a set of spin milled Vokeys with plain old s-200 shafts and I feel my short game and wedge shots are way better then last year.I was using 54 and 60 and this year I went back to a 52, 56 and & 60...I don't know what it is but right know its working and sticking with it...We'll see in a few weeks how the wedges are when I'm in Mrytle beach for a week.

As for the y-cutters they will have to wait until I can find the alot cheaper then they are.

Y cutters are going to be a retail TP release from TM in the near future..some time around June from what I have heard..Not sure what the finish will be, probably a satin to continue with the current line..so if you have extras you may want to move them..Not real sure how close they will be to tour ones though..something has to be lost in the mass production aspect of it all..I love mine and need to get the back up I have sitting at someones house...

Never really liked them. Definatly not saying they are'nt a great wedge, I just never could get used to them. I played 588s then Vokeys my whole life. I tried them all last year and had my worst short game year ever. Since I have gone back to Vokeys and I am back to normal. If they fit your style and you like the look, go for em. They are a great product.
