Picked up 4 doz. NEW ProV1x today...

Got the chance to trade out some '10 ProV1x golf balls today for some of the new ProV1x...

I got a sleeve of the "Test" balls last fall and played with them and that ball is the best that I've ever played...and it ain't close. I played a round at Rarity Point in Lenoir City, TN last fall with one of the test balls in about a 20 mph wind and it was, without a doubt, the best ball I've ever played in the wind. As the day went on, the wind started to lay down (5-7 mph) and the performance just got better as the day went on. I found that it's about 5 yards longer than the '10 ProV1x...I'm sure it has to do with the dimple pattern on the ball. Larger, shallower dimples in some areas and smaller, deeper dimples in other areas. Seemed to make it much more stable in the wind, but also very controllable in terms of spin around the green.

I guess where I'm going with this is that I've got cabin fever so bad (supposed to get another 3 inches of snow here in Nashville tomorrow...ugh) that I'm reaching for anything to "Jones" about...gotta scratch that itch, y'know?

Boomer Sooner!!

I grew up in El Reno and my folks are telling me that they are expecting 10 more inches of snow....and OKC is gonna get hammered also. I can remember some bad winters in OK, but nothing like this.

How is the new X? I have one of those sleeves, but I haven't been able to practice much with it. The one time I hit it off the tee, it was a terrible tee shot that duck hooked..

I did notice that it launched higher and spun more with short wedge shots, with extensive practice.

Titleist TSi3 10* (at 9.25*) w/ Tour AD DI 6X
Titleist TSR2 15* w/ Tour AD MJ 8X
Titleist TSR2 18* Hybrid w/ Fuji Atmos Blue Tour Spec 8X

Mizuno MP Fli-Hi 3 iron w/ KBS Tour V S HS'd
Titleist 716CB 4-P w/ DG AMT TI X100 SS'd
Vokey SM7 Slate Blue 54.10 (1* strong) and 58.08 with Onyx DGTI S400
PING PLD Anser D 35"

2021 ProV1 or Left Dash ProV1x (or random other tour quality balls LOL)

It's a higher launch, but flatter trajectory. It is nice in the wind. Been windy here in Atlanta.

It's just as long as normal, and while we all "nut" one from time to time.. I pounded one today that just SUNG down the fairway.

It's a softer feel off the driver to me as well, fantastic spin with irons, and putts slightly softer than last years model. I'm happy with it.. Similar to the Penta, but lower spin off the driver, so you get a slightly lower ball flight.. Spins just as much, or more around the greens. I did a test with the new ProV and the X, and hit 5 shots each at around 100 yards with a brand new Vokey sand wedge. Backed around half up, the others just dropped. Durability seems better, but I've read that others found them to be the same, or worse, so it's pretty personal.

The test ball was certainly more durable than last years for me. On an empty course in mid 40* temps, played it against last years (both versions), an '07 ProV1 (favorite V1) and a ZStar.
Off the tee, I averaged 10-12 yds longer than the ProV1, 6yds longer than the X and about 8yds longer than the ZStar. Greenside was just as others described. Quite soft and a bit more spin, though not as much as the '10 ProV1.
However I still prefer the ZStar's hop and stop action.
