I have a very sad story to tell you.......

Mid February I contacted hookedgolf.co.uk about a custom job on a Cameron putter...... I wanted a fastback with the shaft altering like McElroy, a sound slot and the head blacking.

The 'owner' Michael Burrow sent loads of quotes and methods of payments and we finally decided to do it (almost £200 lighter!!!)

I sent the putter, which we confirmed he had recieved it and the process was going to take 3-4 weeks.

That was 7 weeks ago...all I have recieved are some pictures of a fastback mid alteration (no way of knowing if the putter is mine).... he won't respond to my telephone calls, texts or emails.

I dont think i will ever see my putter.... but my father in law is a solicitor... so we will be going 'legal'.

dont use this joker... very unprofessional.

I see him on e-bay advertising his services and have thought about sending a Scotty there. Hope it all works out for you, keep us informed

Hi, yes I'm new here and yes this is my first post so I'm sorry if there's a protocol of an introductory post.

I had to ask though, did you ever get your Fastback returned to you? I'm wondering as I also have a putter a couple of months overdue from that company, unfortunately all of these warnings from people only started springing up a couple of weeks after I'd sent mine away.

My original thought was that this guy was doing these refinishes in his spare time and he had just taken on far too many jobs, but in all honesty even I, who have extremely good patience with stuff like this am starting to get very annoyed. I just want my putter back.....

NO!!!!
I spoke to thim last night...... i have this parent telephone number and finally spoke to him about 10.30 last night. He is completley unfuused about how much he has put me out and quite frankly couldn't give a s#it.
I sent my putter to him 9 weeks ago and he keeps saying..... it should have been sent...... will be with you.....
My father in law is a solicitor and i have given him a deadline of Friday for the return or i am going to 'unleash' the full fury of dad.
He won't know what's hit him it will end up a criminal prosicution for thieft, misrepresention and some other things.... (not too clued up with the law)
But he WILL end up with a criminal record as i have full detailed records of all the correspondance........

I can't believe I have been taken in by this idiot.

we need to make sure ALL wrxers know about him...........

Terrible service and this is the worst thing about being in Britain... service sucks - nothing like Americans there...

I'm so sorry to hear about your tragic loss.
I was toying with the idea of sending a putter there for some personalisation, so thank you for the heads up.

I hope your putter finds it's way back okay.

well......

I had to call the police to initiate a criminal proceeding........ for theft.
over 10 weeks later i called the police and they contacted Michael... who promised to get the putter back this week, and include a cheque for £50 for the innvienience.
the putter arrived (no cheque of course... god forbid he should be a man of his word!!!)
the putter was ruined
the centre shafting looks like it was done by a complete amateur... and the black oxide finish was infact black paint applied by stevie wonder with a paint roller.

I didn't bother taking pictures and pit it straight in aceone... and he paint fell off..... i have done the best job i can do and will post pictures later when the paint fill has dried.

this mad should be avoided by everyone... please spread the word

I know a local pro who sent this guy some putters. Unfortunately, for him they have not been seen since. To me it looks like he has had a few putters done by BOS so he can show them off on the website to lure you in. He then fleeces you for the money to do the refurb and nabs your putter in the mean time.

I did email him regarding the black oxide finishing as I refinish as a hobby and he wasn't particularly helpful. Nevertheless, Ive since sent a putter to a company to see how well their black oxide finish works out. His loss

This has just come back from black ox. I have a Cameron newport as well that looks amazing. You have to do your own prepping but the finish is wonderfull, as good as any BOS black oxide. The head was stripped of its chrome, bead blasted, sole gring etc and then sent off for blackening. Anyone interested in having it done please PM me

That is a real shame, it is all golfers' worst nightmare to trust their favourite clubs to someone , then either have them ruined or never see them again.

I must have been a lucky one, because I entrusted my putter to HookedGolf earlier this year to get some engraving work done to replicate punching on the sole, and a sight dot on the top edge.
Maybe it was because I was local, but the whole thing went fine, as planned and I was very happy with the results (see my WITB). I must have got in before the wheels came off.

I had high hopes for a customising service nearby, however, I do a lot of my own work now.

Hope all gets resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned.
