HS Golf Tryouts

Well they start tomorrow, wish me luck. As long as I stay relaxed and play smart I should make it.

I had mine lastw eek. It was monday-thursday but thursday got rained out so we played friday.

My Teams tryouts start tommorrow but i wont be there. Ill be at an AJGA event in Long Island. My coach gave me a free pass tho. Ill be the #1 player this year. and captain. I cant wait to see how the team looks this year...we'll be a little weaker than in the past but we'll still have a strong team.

I am on the same boat.... I will be the Captain of my team and we just had try outs and we are alot weaker this team because i was the only person remaining on the team...

We play a spring season in the Northwest, but our school will be in the same group. I'm the one returning varsity player. Four seniors and a sophomore last year. That was fun. (Not)

haha atleast you guys will have a team. we had 9 players last year, and 8 who were elidgible and we graduated 7. so now its just me and a kid who cant pass his classes

I coach a high school team and today is our first invitational. Our team returns 6 of our top 7 players from a team that finished 3rd in the state of Michigan last year. Good luck to all players and have a good season.

you are playing the course, not the other people. Hopefully this can translate from tennis to golf, i remember there was a 5 point model? (keep in mind this was 25 years ago for me).

1. training/practice

2. equipment

3. facility/golf course...

4. nutrition

5. opponent

You can control 4 of the 5, meaning, practice in advance, make sure equipment is fine. play the course ahead of time/visit it for where your distances will put you for second shots, etc..., Eat/sleep a good night. then #5, you have no idea who will show up golf wise. so if you can get a "A" on the first 4, you will be ahead of the other guy.

First day is over, my playing was very streaky. 81 with alot of pars and then a few blow up holes.

My first day was yesterday. A very ugly 83. I could not make a putt with a gun to my head. Or even 2 putt. Hopefully today goes better.

Me too pretty much. It's me and my two friends and our top 3

Our tryouts are over thank God. I was two behind this one girl for the last varsity spot because the 4 girls were already locked in so I had to shoot low to really secure the spot so I shot 79 and she blew up so I made it. It was the worst week of my life but I did it!!

My tryouts are usually in the spring, but this year I heard that they'll be in September. I should make it, but hten again, I should have made it last year and possibly the year before but didn't, so you never know. All I know is that there's really only 1 available spot because 4 of the 5 players are returning this year- 3 of them will be in grade 12 and one will be in grade 10 (grade 9 last year on our team and was the lowest on our team at the tournament, and he wasn't even supposed to be on the team- methinks he'll get a free pass this year...)

I just need to play well and I should make it.
